    @ninja Yeah seen that before.

    I am having so much trouble getting my engine into the frame. Pissing me off beyond believe. It's just not going in. Going to have to drop it next weekend.

        @declan Top mount won't line up.

        Seeing as this is an unknown frame, imported from a different country, it could be that the frames twisted.

        But I've been trying for three weeks now and it is simply not going on. It shouldn't be this difficult which makes me suspect something untoward.

        I've ordered a proper engine jack for this bike now, so I will be able to drop the engine out and hoist it in properly. Hopefully have it in next week!

          @calum since the frames from another country in guessing this build isn't road legal? Surely it would of been easier and cheaper getting an old RS from the UK somewhere? Pleanty with cracked fairings and blown engines round here.

            I would gladly help you with fitting the engine but I bet you live miles away, would love to see that in the flesh!

              @glynn123 I have the log book from Germany. I have already notified HM Revenue of the import and it cleared customs. I just need to roll it for inspection. No biggie. I don't know mate. Yes I've spent lots of money on it, but if I didn't buy everything brand new from Aprilia this bike would have been really cheap.

              The frame was £100 posted. The swingarm came with a shock £25. The wheels less than £100 and the forks came with yokes £60. Then handle bars, fairings and loom wouldn't be too much.

              I reckon, if you got everything used, kept your eyes out for bidding, you'd get one for less than 1K. And you know everything would be greased up and serviced before fitting. So effectively you could be knocking out top of the range RS's for less than 1K. I reckon anyway. But no, I didn't do that, this is becoming well expensive. The titaniunm alone must have cost me a few bob.

              @oldman Cheers, it's not much to look at, it's just a 125 after all.

                    @glynn123 Seriously, part of the fun. Keeping an eye out on the auctions for the bargains.

                    @NINJA Yeah, you could say that. I don't do any of those things, and it's a hobby. It's a pretty lonely hobby, other than you guys on here that is. I guess that with Drink, Drugs and ladies, it's more of a socialable experience.

                        @ninja It's a bit of a sausage fest here isn't it?

                        It would be nice to have a mixture of all walk of life on here. It's nice that we get people from not just the UK connecting in.

                          Some more bits arrived this morning...

                          Four Genuine Indicators, Aftermarket Tail Tidy, Hel Braided lines and a spark plug.

                          Surprising how much it all adds up to. That's it for this month.

                            @calum Using an iridium IX in my DT too, nice plug and never fowled. Got the same indicators all round my DT too, liked them as theyre a nice shape and big, also very bright. I dont care as much about looks as I do keeping the bike on two wheels...

                              @glynn123 People have had dramas with Iridiums, I have always ran them, on both my DT and my Starlet with no issues.

                              I got those indicators from Aprilia directly, they aren't actually period correct, as my RS is 2007, these were from the more modern 2009+ which my fairings come from.

                              It was a hard choice between the two to be fair...

                                @calum Always had Iridium IX in every bike/car ive had, from a 250 trials (bike that barely ever gets revved, very prone to fouling) to my DT, and run them on my daily Fiat T-jet, dont think ive ever had one foul, my Gas Gas destroyed its regular champion plug on the first run haha.

                                  Aww man, FINALLY got that engine fitted. To those in the future that have the same problem. Start from the top mount, and work your way down. To be fair, that was my initial intention, but after going blind trying that with a car jack, I thought I'd change tact.

                                  I ended up forking out £35 (BARGAIN) for a 500Kg motorbike jack, solely to put the engine on and jack into the frame. Once I done that, the stars aligned and the engine went it 😄

                                  The fairings arrived last month, sorry But I've scrimped out here on a set from China. And oh my are they gorgeous!

                                  alt text

                                  Like you can tell a million miles away they are not genuine, but I am not spending 3K on fairings alone lol. The kit comes with every single piece you could need...£333. Absolute steal at twice the price. Anyway, they look superb, but are very flimsy when compared to the originals. But that's fine, It's style over function here since I'm not really going to be using the bike in any sort of anger.

                                  I will fit them as more and more of the bike is completed, but there is a little teaser.

                                  Rear line is fitted, Red Hel braided lines with gold ends. Are working wonders for this colour scheme

                                  alt text

                                  Rear tail tidy and indicators are on. Chain is also fitted although didn't take a photo of that.

                                      @bradt Cheers bud. Not that far off now. Hopefully get it done before the sun goes away.

                                      It still needs registering in the UK yet.

                                          @bradt Yeah I know, however, I will need to ride it to the MOT station before you can register it, which can be within a 40 mile radius. So basically, chose one really far away, or take a detour on the way there, and that'll be my summer blast. I tell you now, if it's raining...I ain't going.
