Well been a while since Iโve posted on this article, i just want to say the project is alive and well Iโm making some progression finally. I blame a pregnancy and a pandemic for the delay
Forget how I post picture on here will update some soon

Needed to get the engine rebuild under way so I can install the engine onto the frame of the bike to get some weight behind the project.
One of the only issues with the engine components other than the the usual wear on the bearings and seals was the play on the clutch basket.
So I did some research and found out you could redo the rubber bushes in the basket with RD250 bushes and rivets.
they sold them on yambits so I got the good old grinder on the old rivets flatten them with a sanding wheel and knocked them through
installed the new bushes and put it back together the play in the basket was like it would be straight out the factory.
Apologies but I must have forgot to take a picture of the finished basket.

Had a little play with frame and put on a couple of bits, pressed in the races for the tapered roller bearings for the steering stem.
Love how the black contrasts with the red.
Also placed some bolts for the engine in position ready for the engine.

I had a similar situation with an old Audi project that I left for a year, I couldnโt remember what bolts to use to put certain bits where! I had to relearn something that I used to know like the back of my hand!...

Pretty much got the engine built just need do some finishing touches on it and order couple of other bits I used high quality bearings and seals and all genuine Yamaha gaskets including the head gasket.
Bore was in good condition I used a 68mm wosner piston To replace the old one
Thinking of putting it on the frame with no oil all in as Iโm thinking of setting the clutch up all In one go once the clutch perch and cable is installed with the clutch having 3 places to to adjust it

, it is a 200 e engine yes unsure what the stock size from the factory is tbh or if itโs been bored out or anything

wrote on 10 Apr 2022, 19:09 last edited by@mhbikesnbits I've just done the maths on it. A standard 200cc barrel is actually 195cc (65.98mm piston) a 68mm bore would make it 207cc so a difference of 12cc. Should be quite noticeable.

When we had a nice bout of sun the other day I sat in the garden, and started the lovely job of polishing the lower triple clamp.
Pictures donโt really show the finish very good looks far better in person
I started with 200 wet and dry and worked my way up to 1000 and finished with a hand polish of some mothers and mag.
The top of the clamp is black powder coated
Once the engines dropped in I can get the clamps in because the weight of them will probably drag the frame over now.
My next task will be probably getting all the handle bars in the and switch gear. Iโm going with some pro taper gear for the handle bars.
