It was only an old Audi 90 10v that I went OCD on. I put a gas flowed head on it with a fat cam and lowered it. Some horrible little crackhead weighted it in when I got made homeless and wasn’t around, back when the price of scrap went crazy (2010?)
Shtuff happens! 🤨 ...@SpookDog what a shame bet you were gutted when you found it was gone

@markus-w cheers pal I hope it’s going to look quality the money I’ve spent so far
, it is a 200 e engine yes unsure what the stock size from the factory is tbh or if it’s been bored out or anything
@mhbikesnbits I think standard is 66mm.

@markus-w can’t wait kick it in tbh see what the engine can do

@mhbikesnbits I've just done the maths on it. A standard 200cc barrel is actually 195cc (65.98mm piston) a 68mm bore would make it 207cc so a difference of 12cc. Should be quite noticeable.

This gets the rattle can treatment it’s only for holding a pipe
Bit sloppy tbh compared to other things but going to go with a silver paint, may get one later down the Line powder coated, just want to get that engine in the frame asap
-
When we had a nice bout of sun the other day I sat in the garden, and started the lovely job of polishing the lower triple clamp.
Pictures don’t really show the finish very good looks far better in person
I started with 200 wet and dry and worked my way up to 1000 and finished with a hand polish of some mothers and mag.
The top of the clamp is black powder coated
Once the engines dropped in I can get the clamps in because the weight of them will probably drag the frame over now.
My next task will be probably getting all the handle bars in the and switch gear. I’m going with some pro taper gear for the handle bars.

It definitely warrants better treatment!
Poor things always seem to corrode under the pipe, before the clamp...
But yeah! Bung it on!!...
PS. You gonna lacquer the bottom yoke?...

@SpookDog now I’m thinking make one on the cnc machine would look pretty bad ass

@SpookDog lacquer… hmm never give it a thought to protect the shine ?
-
Bottom yokes have come up nicely! It should hold its shine for a wee while but it's always the way with those things.
The pro taper handlebars are nice to be fair.
@Calum bike will be kept inside and probably only ride on the nicer weather days so hopefully this will help it last longer

@mhbikesnbits still won't take long to lose the shine. Lacquer would work well. It looks really good polished and I really don't want to come across like I'm picking but would it not look better with the top and bottom yokes the same colour? IE both black with the chrome forks? Personal preference I know but I'm trying to picture it in my head.

@markus-w hmm maybe could try the lacquer, I’m going with the black top polished bottom as that was the style it was on the 80s yzs

@markus-w maybe this will give you abit more of idea what it would look like,
I have a little think about the lacquering and my only issue is paint doesn’t like smooth surfaces so would it end up getting lacquer peel ?

@mhbikesnbits fair enough it is the yz look you are going for. Does look good.

@mhbikesnbits yes I know what you're saying about peeling because that would look awful. I polished my brake calipers and opted against lacquer for that reason. But I realised after that they use lacquer on alloy wheels on cars, not sure which lacquer but that doesn't peel.

@mhbikesnbits Yes! That looks so good polished!
I am looking forward to seeing this progress!
Keep up the updates.

@Calum cheers buddy will keep it updated as much as I can, getting to the point were more moneys going need spending and quite abit of it tho

Not sure about the silver, I have seen them on the standard silver engines but in black and they look good so I thought I would inverse that.
Think I will get one done in black powder coat
