@Challenger that's a good bit of information right there. I did think about fitting that exhaust to my bike before but wasn't entirely sure that it would fit. It's a dt125r with the Athena 170 bore kit fitted so figured the 200 exhaust may be better for it. Since we now know that it fits the 200 (albeit with a bit of heating and hammering) I presume it will also fit mine. Do you know if I'm correct in thinking that the external dimensions of the top ends on the 125/200 are near identical?

The exhaust on the 125 is 32mm diameter and on the 200 is 37 it won't work well with that pipe, you will have a big step for the return pressure wave that pushes back the mixture at the exhaust port. The 170 has 32mm exhaust also like the 125.

I need my tools and a pile of junk.....

@markus-w The athena 170cc is a great upgrade for the 125cc engine. But I wouldn't go with the 200cc pipe on it. I had that kit with athena complete exhaust system and it worked really great. But when I installed that exhaus on a DT200R it sucked. After every gear change there was a drop in power and had to wait for the engine to get to higher revs for some more power.
So even tho the 170cc uses the 200cc piston size, the stroke stays the same, and I think you should use the 125cc pipes for your setup. (again, in my opinion athena pipe is the best one for the dtr)
            https://youtu.be/u1kb5bMY3KQ
Here's the vid of the 170cc setup I had back in the day, crashed the bike later on and it went for parts. But it was running really good with the top end and exhaust from the same manufacturer. And it didnt even have the power valve plugged in.
Generally athena pipe for dt125/170 is very similar to fmf pipe for wr200 when it comes to power delivery. It doesnt make your bike top-end-of-revs-only like the giannelli pipe does. Its more of a mid-tier revs concentred pipe. While the oem pipes for both of the bikes are concentred more on the low-tier of revs. Its more visible especially in the wr200, but you get the idea.

Here's how it looks on SM wheels. I dont ride a lot on this bike, as I prefer off-roading, but its nice to have a garage queen like this:

@SpookDog yes I notice yours has a yellow seat. I actually think the yellow looks good but I'm sure all the endurance blue DT's, 125 and 200 had blue seat originally.

@markus-w Yes, they had a blue seat originally. It suits the frame colour I chose, but the frame plastic covers I used from YZ400F are a different kind of blue so it stands out a bit now. Originally 200's had white frame, but I didnt like that much.

@SpookDog I know Yamaha made a tdr250 black with yellow seat but I don't believe they ever used a yellow seat on a DT. I'd say it's an aftermarket reproduction.
