The engine an loom are 1989 the cdi is I believe 3nc the writing has worn off
To make it easier I ll list all the wires that the cdi has in case I got the code wrong

    Right side of cdi
    Male 2 pin plug
    white/ red . Wire
    Black . Wire
    Female 2 pin plug
    Green/ white Wire
    Black an red wire
    These plugs go to stator

    Left side of cdi
    2 pin plug
    Dark blue wire
    Light blue wire
This is for neutral an oil light

Twin Black wire from cdi goes to earth

Black / white from cdi goes to black / white in loom not sure what it's for ?

Orange wire from cdi goes to coil ?

Blue / yellow from cdi should go to Black/ yellow I can't find it in the loom ?

Black / yellow from cdi should go to.red an white possibly power valve?

Black with yellow stripe goes to 3wire servo. Along with back wire & brown wire double block connector from the loom...

@dan28 Yes that's correct, brown is main feed from the ignition switch on Yamahas and obviously black is earth. Interestingly if you apply battery voltage to the black and brown wires of a serviceable 3-wire servo it will perform its cleaning cycle even when removed from the bike as the control circuit is inside the servo itself and the black/yellow signal wire from the CDI just tells the servo the engine speed.

Only other CDI unit I can think of could be a 3BN from the very first 1988 DTR; I think the wiring is very similar to a 3NC but you'd probably have a 26mm round slide carb if that's the case.

@Calum Thank you! How do you obtain a staticflickr link from the image please? Had a nose around last night and couldn't find it, maybe because I'm using the free version of Flickr?

@HOTSHOT-III Uhh, you edited your post with the URL in it.

I don't use flicr personally, but Right Click + Copy Image Location ought to give you the URL.

@Calum OK cool, thought I'd still done something wrong as the actual image still didn't appear like in your comment above. Still the OP can access the wiring diagram so all good πŸ‘

@Calum Finally sorted as you can see above!!

Turns out on my computer you have to click the download link on a Flickr photo, choose the size you want, THEN copy and paste the URL. Might be because I'm still using the Victorian technology that is Windows 7?

Anyway thanks for your patience πŸ‘ πŸ‘Ό
