Taillight/Brake light issues

I changed my taillight from an LED to a bulb unit as the LEDs had mostly gone. All three wires are correct (to the best of my knowledge) got the taillight working ok when running, but no brake light at all on either switch. Was working when the led was on and I simply cut the three existing wires to the led and joined the three from the bulb in its place. Bulb is ok. (Tried reconnecting the led but not working now either)
Any ideas? Cheers

If you cut the 3 wires at the same time when power was applied chances are you've blown a fuse. I'd check them first

The wires were cut with no power to them, the taillight filament in the bulb is working, but the brake light isn't. Both filaments are ok. Fuse is ok cause indicators and horn work on ignition switch.

have you tested for power when the brakes are aplied as you should have power if you dont then you will have to trace back to each switch to see were the brake in the wire is but seems strange was working ok before

Unfortunately I don't have a multimeter at the moment to test it. Should be power there as the taillight works no matter what way the wires are matched up.

Hang on so the old light is working?

No I reconnected the old light (led) and the brake light isn't working now on that either. Thinking a break in a cable between the light and the switches somewhere.

Check the fuses when you cut them they might of touched and blown a fuse

Got it all sorted cheers lads, turns out the loom extension had been chopped further up, and the connecting block was filthy. I replaced the cables, cleaned it and wired it up. Boom all working again
