Is it possible by not installing the wire ring that goes beneath the 2nd ring could cause the bike to lose compression resulting with extremely low power and not riding past 2nd?

I have never bothered to install them.

It really depends on the tolerances. It wouldn't pull in any gear if it was that much of an issje.

Something isn't right if you are losing compression mate.

Are you sure this is what is happening?

@calum not at all I've got it down to either fueling under load or weak spark under load as on the garden it's okay but if I take it out and select 2nd the bike comes to a stop at the end of the gear then after that it starts running weird like a splutter withough the noise if you know what I mean then I have to push it as it won't ride at all but will still run and rev

@declan well , is your clutch set up properly? I mean the tension .

@zrako yeah, if it's losing power under load then it sounds like clutch is slipping.

@calum the clutch was in a bad state but since I got a new lever and adjuster it will pop the front wheel up but it's losing the power after initially using the clutch it feels good but after then it's losing power I don't believe it to be the clutch but I really thought it was till I got a new lever the other day before that I could redline drop the clutch and barely move

@declan is there plenty of free play on the lever?

Yeah but the load on the clutch in 1st is going to be minimal.

@calum so what would you lean to will bad plates have this effect?

@declan Wouldn't be a bad place to start.

An idea would be to see if it pulls fine with no load on the engine.

So first just put the bike on a paddock, start it and go through all the gears. If that works no problems then jump on bike and od the same but keep it part throttle only. No load.

@calum I've tried it with no load it works pretty much as it should

@declan With load on the engine does it revs hard and no power. Clutch is slipping then.

Either adjust it or replace it.

@calum no it lacks power off the line when moving its decent shift into 3rd the revs die down to a slow idle and you go about 3mph

@declan Nah doesn't sound like clutch then.

Sounds like it's a carb setting.

Take the plug out and have a look.

Could simply just not getting enough fuel.

@calum that's what I'm thinking as after I try hit 3rd and stop it feels starved not revving clean and real slow idle but sorts it's self out after a rest I've been doing some tests as it's got an open filter not the box as I have no rubber or filter for the air box but I haven noticed anything by restricting air flow
