So the project isn't dead I've just been extremely busy with work.

Finally found a twin rad setup that works - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252198042402

The bike is currently at the machine shop getting the engine brackets and radiator brackets made up.

    And this arrived today 🙂

It's back!!! The wheel is finally back!!

So this is a 19" yz excel rim on a dt125r hub.

Fits nice even with the wheel pushed althe way towards the engine there's still clearance.

Just waiting for the rear axle spindle to turn up so I can get the rear wheel fitted 🙂

I wouldn't bother with that. Seen them snapped quite easily. I would use a ground anchor and chain when at home and a chain around the wheel when out. Always try and chain it to something when your out. Remember even your own garden isn't safe.

When I lived at my parents we had a large garden with a dog that always barked at strangers yet one night I found my motorbike was missing!! Ran up the garden at 3am in my pants to find her resting at the side of the road on the kick stand. Guessing they went to get a van. I was very lucky

Yeah fits but needs a few modifications. Needs custom head to frame brackets and the front engine brackets.

The decider was the fitment between the swingarm and that fits no modifications 😃

@Zrako calum's method works great. i've got some close up pictures so you can see how it works

i used a stock dtr lower bearing in the frame with the yz forks and the stock yz top bearing sat in the new bearing cup 🙂

How much did you pay just out of interest?

    I picked this up - 0_1492532456713_IMG_5733.JPG

Don't really know what gas gas model it is apart from being 320cc.

Bought it at 5pm for £400

Crashed it in the field at 6:30pm ripped the back off and bent the wheel.

Sold at half 7 to a guy that races them for £700.

lol not really sure what I had.

I used a hel set like this with no problems - http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/dt_125_r/88/picture/hel_front_hydraulic_hose_-_standard_set-up/

Be careful with discs I can't remember what type it was but once I went for a cheaper disc and it would rust over night where as the more expensive ones didn't rust at all. Sorry not sure what the coating was called

Haven't posted in a while but things are still slowly moving .

    0_1491513724094_IMG_5549.JPG

The wheel has been with the builder for a week now so hoping to have it back soon.

Ordered the wrong front yz calliper doh!! So sending that back and ordering another. They calliper carry is wider on a 98 then the 97. My forks are 98 🙃.

The yz exhaust has arrived as well but I forgot to take a photo. It doesn't quite fit might need a little bit of heat and some bending to make it work but it's not to far off.

So here we go once again i'm rebuilding the bike 🙂

this is where the project starts:

    0_1488583983547_IMG_4651.jpg

i have already made a start and thanks to @Calum 's bearing cup guide i have started making the yz125 forks fit my dtr.

    0_1488584162666_IMG_4653.jpg

    0_1488584255740_IMG_4658.jpg

    so lets talk forks..

i had the bearing cup made up at a local machine shop using Calum's design. i took the design down with the frame and the yokes. the measurements had to be adjusted to make the cup fit the frame as the size wasn't correct for my frame. i'm not saying his design and measurements was wrong in anyway it just wasn't quite right for my frame. unsure if it changes throughout the models slightly.

so as the yz125 stem is longer and the stock yz top bearing is large than the dt frame the bearing cup is required to make it all fit.

i used a stock yz125 top bearing and stock dt125r bottom bearing to make it all fit. no modifications are required to make the dt bearing fit the stem it's the correct size believe it or not and theres no play.

the axle spindle is larger on the yz forks so you will need to use the yz front wheel.

Hi all so here we go.... my 2000 dt125r

i've had the bike since 2008 and it love it.

I've really loved this bike and i took good care of it. i was riding it up until feb 13 when i got my car licence and then it sat.

during this time i managed to find a yz125 engine that i thought would be great so i sold my 3mb fully running engine to a friend for £150!!!!! DOH looking at the prices of them on ebay now i feel a bit stupid.

    all brand new and genuine.

i haven't ordered the front mud guard yet as i think i might use the more sporty looking yz one.

    Whora hijack!! Haha

@scrimsmustang just bolting a light to a yz isn't fun. It's all about building something your way that no one else has.

I'm not some one that can just buy and sell bikes I get attached to them. I've had my dt 9 years and it changes with me. No other dt would ever feel the same. Its like having a child and watching it grow.

@Calum ah ok thanks annoying. Has it changed? I used to upload from my phone before.
