DT125R FORUM

first of all, sorry for only creating my dtx125 post today, since this is a forum mostly about yamaha dtr/dtx bikes. Some of you may noticed, i have post's about my italian bikes, but i promised i would create one for my little dtx125, that i own since i was 17year old ( im 23).

i will not post much here, because this bike will be in standby for indeterminate time and i dont understand of mechanics to make the things on my own. i have a big big project for my RS250, and it will take all my cash available for bikes in the future.

BUT, i have a brand new box with Kit Athena 170cc in my garage, ready to be installed when i want.

here she is

about the bike:

• 2009 model
• stock engine with stainless steel exhaust by Romeu Henriques (Portugal), i have a spare one with damaged crank i guess. that one will be used for athena kit.
• leo vince silencer from yz125. (just for the looks, i love that silencer. not the best in performance)

basically, its a stock dtx. i dont plan to change much things in the bike. only on the engine

i will start this project slowly , no hurry's, i cant drive this beast yet, need to be 24 years old to take the licence. only in january i can have the licence.

i will post the photos of the beginning of this build, and i will explain my objectives with this bike.

First Parts will be:

• USED OEM Brembo discs x2, bought here in portugal for 120€ pretty good, insted of paying 500€ for brand new discs

• New BREMBO front master cylinder RCS19 with TWM clutch. (Same like i did on RS125, but 19 instead of 15) (~330€)

• New/Used Genuine Complete Headlight from RS125 (90-05) or RS250 since they use the same light

• New/Used complete back light with licence holder from RS125 (90-05) or RS250 since they use the same

• New Genuine Windshield (~90€) already bought on eBay.

after this basic stuff, i will buy new tyres, new exhaust ( i like loud bikes :D) Tyga or JimLomas Side by Side with carbon silencers. this cost around 1.000€

Work needed on the bike:

• New paint in Mugello Colours with stickers. ( i already have most of the stickers needed, since i bought for my rs125 some time ago, but they were very hard to fit on rs125 late models)
• Need to remove the paint insome parts (calipers, handlebars, wheels) previous owner did a bad job painting them.

for now, this are the most important things to fix for me.

If you guys know someone that have OEM parts that i need, i will aprecciate

here you have some photos, on the photos you cant see the bad paint job the previous owner did. trust me, the photos hide the fails on the paint. the brembo calipers are chinese paint lol

but the engine its fine, so i have more spac€ for other stuff needed.

i have romeu henriques pipe too on my dtx and its amazing the sound!

quick update for my project

received my calipers and carbs from MHF UK, they vapour blasted and pwder coated calipers and on the carbs vapour blast and ultrasonic cleaning. they look new now imo

i was bored at home, and i said to myself that i can remove the engine of the bike and save some cash not paying to someone to do it for me.

so i did

looks very dirt inside

out of the frame already

i may be wrong but i think this engine never left the frame of the bike in 20 years

look the powevalve housing, this after a cleaning with absorvent paper. when i opened lots of burned oil leaked

piston, i dont have a clue if its very bad condition or not. what you guys think?

cylinder head, no ideia again if bad or not

what's your opinions? full rebuild since i have engine out? btw, the engine i will not touch, no skills for that.

this was the first time i worked on a bike, im proud of myself that i did it. i organized all parts and screws on zip bags to not lose anything.

quick update on the parts that i already found and bought.

Used OEM Brembo discs x2

Used Genuine Complete Headlight

Used driver seat

Used Low rear fairing lockup

thanks to @NINJA for the facebook group's , found almost every part used there.

Next month, i hope i can order this parts:

Brembo RCS 17 with the TWM clutch( some guys told me better then rcs19 for rs250) and Brembo Rear Disc

i cant buy much more parts for now, unfortunately i damaged the engine of my pitbike. and will not be cheap to repair i guess

a photographer asked me if he could make a session with my bike, i said yes of course. so i hope soon i will have real photos to show you guys

photos are similiar to the last ones, and you cant see very well the carbon on the rear wheel, but thats the best i could do. im not good with photography i guess :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat:

quick update on rs125 and BIG news for my next project

bought this bobbins from aliexpress, i think calum have the same ones. they look nice

Yesterday, i travelled almost 650km to buy my next project 250cc.
I waited for this moment a long time, every day looking on classified ads. finally completed one of my dreams, buying the Aprilia RS250.

12.000km Year 1999 (MK2) and its running. need painting, new rear and front disc (x2), new tyres and some other small parts to make it good looking again. still have the original exhaust ( my rs125 makes 3 times more noise :face_with_tears_of_joy: :face_with_tears_of_joy: ) but for 2.7k € i will never find a deal like this anymore, i guess.

sorry for no photos, but with all the excitement i forgot, and i already left the bike on the mechanic for a quick check and to remove the fairings.

Hi, today received 2 carbon parts.

Tyga chain guard and sprocket cover.

they look really nice, but im disapointed because no TYGA Logo on the parts. and i tought the parts came with tyga logo like we see on the pictures on websites. not a big deal, but for the price we pay atleast their logo on the parts.

other carbon parts are in process of making from Veronesi team from Italy.

btw, maybe next week i will post here my next project 250cc. lets hope that seller save the bike for me till the end of the week.

new helmet to match what lorenzo used in aprilia days, was hard to find but managed to buy this new helmet in Ireland.

here is the lorenzo with the same helmet and the pretty aprilia fortuna

@Calum i think im going to buy something different. I know a guy that bought that yss and only used for 3 months.

Im thinking in bitubo adjustable or the sp version.

Finally the bike is already done! just need a few more parts to make it prettier.

Im doing 2 tanks without pushing too much, and after that i can use full throtle

next steps, carbon fiber parts from tyga and veronesi, renthal full transmission with gold chain.
and about the screws and nuts im not sure if i will change to other colour. what you guys think? gold colour will look good on the red fairings?
