New transmission oil turned black after one week? -
Motorcycle coolant.@irongamer727 well, tap water has minerals in it which will be deposited inside the coolant jackets as time goes. This can affect the cooling. Also iron parts may catch rust as well. You may have to flush your cooling system more frequently compared to using distilled water.

Yamaha dt125re rebuild@bonus ahh I know your frustration. Mine is a 1991 DT125R and it too has had a life of being neglected and thrashed around. All the bits are still in one piece and working order thankfully except for the front head light unit. Got to find a replacement for it.

New transmission oil turned black after one week?Hi, do you mean crank oil seals? Could it be that piston rings needs replacement?

Yamaha dt125re rebuild@bonus hey mate I found this while browsing. It's a replacement head light unit from yambits for DT125R.

New transmission oil turned black after one week?Hi guys, I did a transmission oil change last week. Within one week the oil has turned black. When I open the oil filler cap it gives off a strong petrol smell as well. Why is this? I rode the bike for a total about 150-200km during this time (small road trip). I used the recommended 10W-40 Caltex synthetic oil (I'm from Sri Lanka btw).

Yes, it says 3MB3BN on the head and the engine and it has YPVS. The pipe is stock actually. Well, the plan is to first work on the fuel system, electricals and then the engine before working on the looks of the bike. I do have plans for a DEP silencer as well (they seem to be quite expensive though, in my currency at least).
I am yet to look inside the engine, it seems to be running fine at the moment though. My main concern now is the carb and the electricals. A previous owner has changed the jetting and I feel the bike is running bit underpowered. On the electrical side, the wiring loom needs to be redone as it has become a mess over the years.Edit: corrected 3MB to 3BN and added the 2nd para

Hi! all the way from Sri LankaHi everyone, I am from Sri Lanka. I bought a DT125R a couple of months back as my first bike. I must say it is pretty fun to ride! It is a Japanese Domestic Market Model with chassis number starting with 3FW-025XXX (I believe its a 1991 model - please correct me if I'm wrong). It has seen considerable use before I bought it. However, it is still in reasonable shape and all the important bits are still there in working order. I'm planning to do a complete restoration. Here it is:
