    Hi All -

    I bought this DT as I had the original DT125LC back in the day and I decided that as I am at a mature age now, a decent motorbike would be a sweet way to get around and avoid sitting in traffic etc. So I looked around and hunted for a decent one and eventually I found this baby;

    Anyways she wasn't quite to my liking, but only had a genuine 7K on the clock, plus it was the first bike which came with a clear HPI report, So I won her on ebay and decided to give her a refresh, I'm not after a total revamp, just some customisation, to give her an individual look. The bike has had the exhaust restrictions removed, a DEP rear silencer, a jack up kit and some braided brake lines, but other than that she's pretty much standard. The first thing I did was to get hold of some stock suspension dog-bones to return her back to the stock ride height, as she was just a bit too tall for my lil ole legs! LOL

    Also one of the previous owners added a 12V socket to the 2ST oil side panel and totally mutilated it. So the first thing I ordered was some new panels. I also ordered some new mudguards, decals and a new 3D number plate as well. I decided that I wanted to keep the bike as a pretty much all black bike, with a Ninjaish twist for that stealthy look. Ie. A bit of chrome and a splash of blood red, just to switch her up a bit. So the first thing I decided to do when I got the panels was to carbon wrap them for a more modern look. i also stuck some heat shield to the rear of the side panels for some protection too.

    Here's my first steps;

    I also put some LED blinkers on the rear but just can't get all 4 to work if I add the front one's. I tried the load resistors and an LED relay but sadly no joy, so I may go with some different one's. I have an LED rear light and a tail tidy to add to her next.

        Nah that's properly clean. A tail tidy would work a treat.

        That's lovely though. If you keep it standard then it'll be worth a mint in years to come.

          Thanks guys;

          Here's my latest handy work, I'll take some better pics of the rear end tomorrow hopefully, so long as the darn rain holds off!!!

          I fitted some Barkbusters hand guards, headlight graphics, tank decals, carbon wrapped the chain guard and resprayed the yucky front chain guide too. I fitted the tail tidy, rear reflectors and resprayed the front pipe and heat shield as well. She's starting to look more like how i imagined her too now!!! :O)

                Thanks guys, so here's my current mod/wish list.

                Upgraded brakes
                Alloy rims & maybe new hubs too
                Avon Trailrider tyres
                OSD forks
                New bars
                New seat cover
                Maybe new swingarm. [I really like Dartys YZ rear end build, but not sure if I will follow his work as yet].

                I may then set about tuning the engine, not sure if I'll just go mild with carbon reeds, air filter etc. Or go the whole hog with a 170cc kit? But that's a long way off if I choose to go down that road or not? As I'd really like to get my full licence and get rid of these butt-ugly L plates first!!!! LOL ;O)

                  @CYBER-NINJA Which wheel hubs are directly compatible with the DT? I'm guessing a lot are, so long as the spindle is the right thickness and you just use the right size spacers to centralize the wheel? Or am I totally wrong and they all different for each manufacturer? I'm guessing that the WR and YZ hubs are a direct fit, but what else is too please???

                  Thanks

                    @CYBER-NINJA Wrong on that one pal.

                    You can't just go willy nilly changing wheels. Centralising the wheel to the swingarm doesn't achieve much. You must have the front and rear wheels inline. Then you must get the front and rear sprocket in line. Failure to do so will not end well.

                    Eventually I had to machine down the rear brake carrier to get everything centralised my end. Was a right faff!

                      @Calum OK so the simplest solution is to use the existing hubs and just get the wheels rebuilt with alloy rims. As that way there will be less faffing around with lining everything up, but the issue would then be getting a larger front brake disc to fit the DT's 3x2 bolt pattern. However what if I used the stock rear hub and a WR or YZ front hub? Would that all line up if I used the correct spacers? As that would give me a better bolt pattern for a larger front disc too???

                                    Well sadly the bike was sold today. She was a damn fine lady and a pleasure to own. Hopefully the new owner will keep her looking and running sweet? After being out of the saddle for 30 years I've really enjoyed riding her immensely! I'll miss the ole girl for-sure, but hey ho onto new adventures we go..............
