DT200WR restoration project pic heavy
-
@Louis-James I just forwarded the images to a friend of mine. He'll appreciate it.
-
@Louis-James Interesting and unusual colour choice, looks cool and no doubt when completed all the colours will tie together. Is this going to be a show bike or an occasional rider???
-
@NINJA hi, yes it will be a show bike of sorts but
on sunny days will get a nice ride
Problems with a 25year old bike is not all parts are available anymore,
Thinking of getting an enduro / laner that can be plastered on mud and dropped and banged hha -
@Louis-James Once restored it will be too good to be thrashed around and in reality using her in that way makes all this effort seem pointless really. You are right get a second bike to be used and abused and leave the restored classics as eye candy!!! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:  :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Had a little play this evening.
Whacked on a few bits.
Ordered up a little bracket that was missing what's needed to mount the rad scoops, could have made something but it was £7 new
-
@Louis-James that colour frame is making me wanna Paint mine lol
-
Starting to look like a motorbike again. Just perfecting any little bits along the way.
-
@Louis-James Such a beautiful job.
We really do have some talented members on here!
I'm in love with this build. The attention to detail is just immense.
-
Can't stop taking pics, think I love doing this build more than the last one.
Need some more parts from fowlers, chain slide, chain guard, correct mud flap.
Exhaust front pipe needs a few small welds.
Front and rear brakes need tidying up
Side stand switch added, oil pump plumbed up, all wired up.
-
Some new bits came,
Cleaned up the forks and front wheel and indeed the new fork guards.New swing arm chain guard, chain guide and mudflap installed.
Fairings should be back from then bodywork shop next week.
Handguards installed and controls cleaned up.

@Louis-James anyone know much about fitting a battery? I just want to do a lights and PV test.. I think you can connect it to the loom r/s of flywheel
-
@Louis-James does it have the three white wires coming from the stator? You'd need them and a voltage regulator to convert the output from ac to dc.
-
So hopefully the main part of the project will be done this week.
Got the oil tank all set up nicely.
I had to extend one of the coolant hoses as was way too short.
This fairing bracket I ordered was no longer available so made one myself. As you can see the fuel tank is in amazing condition for age.. didn't even powdercoat it..
All the colours are colliding and making a nice 90s mess haha just as I wanted.
The fairings are ready to collect from the body shop
-
@Louis-James if its got the voltage reg already I should think it will. Probably have 3 white wires going to the vr and one red. The red is the 12v positive output that would go to the battery.
