This stuff freaked me out though. I was worried it was gearbox oil leaking past the o-ring! It was that heavy.
I don’t think the oil sits high enough though, when it’s on the side stand?

Has anyone else ever had a super-smokey startup after being stood for a few weeks? The only thing that I can think of is that the two stroke oil must of siphoned into the reed block somehow.
It cleared pretty quickly but freaked me out...

@SpookDog i second what Declan said about fuel evaporating leaving a higher percentage of oil behind especially as it cleared so quick. Was going to say the same then realised Declan beat me to it. Good call sounds right to me. Usually good practice to turn off fuel tap and run engine until it runs out of fuel if you know it'll be standing for a few weeks. With my dtr I've found about 5-6 weeks to be the limit without starting before I have to strip carb and clean jets and that's using my usual Texaco super unleaded and Castrol power one so not cheap rubbish.

@markus-w my 4 strokes never gave me issue over the years but all my 2 strokes have hated fuel being in the bowl

fuel evaporates leaving just oil, also could be fuel leaking down into the bottom end via a dirty float needle

@declan But the engines are manifold injected oil, not carb. So why would the carb have oil in it?

I only run V-Power and it's still an issue. I'd suspect dirty/sticky float and emptying the float by raking it up the road seems to sort it out a treat.

Yeah, I know. Plus I always turn my petrol off (sis’s carport🏍)
That’s why I thought that it was the 2/ oil ‘falling’ through. I know tzr’s Have a ball bearing and spring to stop flow without the pump working against it. Don’t know about the Dtr though...

It’s definitely been gravity feeding the oil in. I left the pipe off with a noticeable air gap at the top (5mm). It’s right the way up to the top of the pipe now...
I can’t believe that I’m the only person that this has happened to. It might be shite watery 2/ oil though. It was in there when I got the bike...
Any suggestions on what and where to buy in bulk? A gallon, maybe?...

I don’t know about anyone else but I always notice my bike smoke loads on start up, it’s not until she’s given a good Rev or ridden through powerband the first time that she coughs up a load of smoke then eases off and goes to normal
I’ve been told oil injected bikes are a known for being like that

@Stevie-Wonder yeah that goes for all 2 strokes the oil doesent burn efficiently at lower temps so you need to clear their throats when they do warm up

Since last night it’s filled up the air gap at the top of the tube and has a big ole drip on it. Not much but over the course of a week or two it adds up. Dunno why there isn’t a ball/spring one way valve like the Tzr?

That doesn't sound right. I don't recall bubbles coming up on my oil feed.

Regardless, it shouldn't make too much difference. So long as it doesn't make its way to the pump.

I mean I took the pipe off that goes onto the inlet manifold, after the pump. The air was just from pulling it off. I Left it off overnight. It was higher than where it pushes on, not hanging down...

                                WoW!...
I emptied out the 2/ bottle and rebled the pump in last night with good oil. I put the small diameter clear pipe on that runs from pump to inlet, but I left it empty.
Since last night it has risen 4inches just gravity feeding through the pipe!! I’m seriously thinking of getting a one way valve if possible. Anyone know of any purpose made bits? Before I search...

Just found out an old pump and removed the oil out union, it’s a simple press fit. It DOES have a ball bearing and spring jobbie in it, the end of the spring had gathered a ‘plug’ of micro-lint, which was stopping the valve working properly. I’m guessing that the one that’s on the bike will be the same. I’ll soon see when I take off the pump for the umpteenth time!...
