Ordered some pro taper 7/8ths bars for the build , had these on my old dt and loved them so bringing them back for some nostalgia so to speak.

Should have some updates over the weekend with some bits I’ve been doing in the week.

    Other news

I deal in motorcycle parts and picked up a load of Yamaha parts the other day, got some nice dt125r bits in there should come in handy for the build or I’ll offer them out to the dt enthusiasts if they are surplus to requirements.

Thought I would share bring some excitement to my thread a little, due to lack of posts 😂

Just seen this a little inspiration for some of you guys and certainly for me.

Radiator mount for a YZ alloy radiators some guy on the old YouTube has done

As I need to run twins this is looking a likely scenario for me.

@mhbikesnbits Great to see updates on this build. Love thi finish on the details. When it comes to the radiators I'd go with dual radiators from DT200R to suit the engine, but those silver alu ones could come out very nice too. Will be watching your progress 😛

            Sprayed the engine hangers.

First sanded a little, used a self etch primer and then went with the silver paint

The paint I used is Apico silver frame paint, pretty awesome goes on really nice.

I do own a set of bearing thumpers, but not the type to install taper roller bearings just normal flat bearings using this would damage a roller bearing ,

However you can buy a specific tools to do steering stem bearing but they are expensive.

So knowing aldi supermarkets sell absolutely anything I set out for a shopping trip for a steering stem Installer tool from aldi.

It cost me 75p for a bottle of vitamin juice it was good for me and it saved me a tonne of money.

I cut the top off and slit the side in Order for it to expand and fit in the inner race of the bearing installed my taper bearing with my normal bearing thumper by hitting my expensive adapter and the job was a gooden

                @mhbikesnbits Yeah that's looking smart.

I did buy the proper tool myself, but as you say, it's expensive and not something I use very often.

I love how the black looks against the red.

@mhbikesnbits that black engine looks really good in there, reminds me of the earlier LC models.

The polish tree’s look good too can’t imagine how long that took

                        Suspension knuckle recap

                        Finished the silver paint

Hopefully it will hold up well , one of the most abused parts from road grime on the bike

@mhbikesnbits looking good. That's a good point too, it sure does take a battering that part. And I think Yamaha done away with the grease nipple on later models for some reason.

That reminds me! I meant to drill and tap holes in either side of the swing arm to fit grease nipples over the spot where the bearings and bushes join. I think some of the earlier ones had a grease nipple but only on one side...

I know a lot of people in dt125 scene like the renthal bars but I like the protaper i think their sleek.

Think they look nice on the build and a added bonus they have updated the design alot since I last owned a pair

                                      !kick starter (nearly finished)

The C Clip sprung off and think I may have lost a ball bearing inside the starter where it turns I got one but I’m guessing you need 2 😩

Decided I want to keep the silver pipe housing as I think the 3 look good together (the hangers kick, star and housin)
