Best thing to do is get a Zeeltronic ignition system for it and you're laughing.
On a copy (of scrims) on another site it said to install an earlier CDI I think? Yamaha certainly had it in in for you lads with later bikes! Access Forbidden! š SNAFU! ā ļø ā¦

Iām worried that he might have the one with the āsilver box behind the 2T oil tankā that needs loads of faffing about! I tried getting scrims guide up but kept getting a 401 error!ā¦

@Mr-Shadi Sure, but some models of DTRs were heavily restricted via the CDI, so you're literally gimped until you replace it with either a less restrictive CDI or an aftermarket one.

@SpookDog i searched a bit and found my bike is actually yamaha dt 125 rn 1997. The rn model is restricted to 80 km/h and there is almost no info about that bike.

@SpookDog i also looked under the speedo and there is a white little box with blue and green red wire coming out of it. i tought it was a light but when i looked it had a little space between 2 metal thingies in it and it was covered with glass. Is that the reed switch?

You just have to move it away from the back of the rev counter/speedo clock and isolate it from themā¦Do you have a rev counter and a speedo? Or just the speedo? I always thought that the reed-switch/bulb was behind the rev counter, but I could be wrongā¦.

@SpookDog i have both. i isolated it with electric tape but it still dosent let me go over 80km/h and now the rev limiter can be heard. when i put in 5 gear it wount rev over 6k and same 6 th gear. and sometimes it dosent let me rev over 6k in all the gears but sometimes it does. i dont know what to do.

Have you moved the bulb as far away as you could from where it was? I thought it was behind the rev counter?
What country are you in? Is the bike native to your country? Iāve never heard of a dt125rn!Try putting it back and seeing if the bike at least āsettles downā!ā¦
At least something is happening, even if itās not what you want! It can (sometimes!) help to diagnose the problems š ā¦

@SpookDog i put it away as far as i can but the wire holding rubber is in the way and its near metal if that does anything. the bike is from germany and its in estonia where i am from. i found out that the rn exists trough www.motomike.eu it has parts for that model. and im gonna mess with it again tomorrow cause its 22.29 for me right now and i will go to sleep. Thank you for the help :)
