Needle clip position isn't going to make it run as rich as it is.
Get that carb bog stock.
Stlck needle, stock position, stock air screw stick idle speed.
It's running way too rich, but at wide open throttle it is only the main jet that you are concerned with. So why even bother with the needle position when it is not running right at wide open throttle.
-
The needle overlaps both bottom and top end, so will fuel height in the carb, verify that its stock.
-
@jens-eskildsen But once its wide open throttle, the needle is clear of the main jet thus no longer part of the fuel metering process.
-
Try yourself mate, if you have a clean reving bike, I can promise you that making big changes to the needle will also affect just of idle, and WOT aswell.
I had tonnes of issues due to the PO messing with the carb, so I've been all over this quite a few times.
2-strokes are just very sensitive to jetting, half a notch on the needle on mine will make the bike go from runnning from okay to great.
-
I did change the needle but was not different I even pinned the pv again just to see if it was the pv causing the lack of power but no it was still the same might just take my carb off and take it to fowlers and get the specialists to rebuild and clean it and see if that helps the problem as would be loads cheaper than buying a new carb

Yeah, somthing sounds way off.
Have you checked the fuelheight in the carb? Does the carb overflow and throw gas on the ground ? -
Are you by any chance missing the washer just under the main jet?
That will cause a very rich condition. -
@vtrn_raptor It's the fueling not the powervalve. That's why it's spluttering.
-
Nope no fuel on the ground and I don't recall their being a washer under the main jet either
-
@vtrn_raptor Well there is...
Can't say I ever noticed that lol.
But I guess I'm not running the stock carb.
-
I'm going to do what you said and put carb back stock and work from their
-
Got someone who knows their way around a dt coming up tonight so fingers crossed
-
Ifyoure missing the washer, that could very well be your main problem, please give it a shot!
When youre missing the washer, the carb will suck fuel around the mainjet aswell, making it very very rich.
-
It was the washer causing the problem the bikes running so nice now
-
@vtrn_raptor yesssssssss happy for you
-
@vtrn_raptor congrats

Thanks guys I'll make a build thread soon as I have some time to kill with a few pictures
