Athena 170

@calum br9eix 90km from brand new. Will try to fiddle with the air screw.

Ah yeah, so with that then, it probably just wants a tad more fuel to compensate.

@calum I guess I could order a bigger idle jet or wait for the summer...

If it were fueling, it would start if you opened the throttle ajar.

It has never ever wanted to start with throttle. With or without the big bore. With the previous cylinder it would at least start fast cold. -

I had issues with my Athena as well. Carb sorted that out.

That'll fix your problem guaranteed!
I literally don't know why the original carb sucks balls lol.

Things are not going my way. 180km into break in I spotted 2 small holes on the cylinder. I have spoken to the company I bought the kit from and they will contact Athena for assistance. Hopefully this ends well..

What do you think? I've now fitted a 310 main jet and she's still a bit down on power. It felt better than the 290 for sure. Now I'm thinking about buying a couple of extra jets, 320-350.
Is this even possible? I've not spoken to anyone running higher than 280. -

If using a TM28 carb then need a 300 main jet with a 27.5 idle jet. Main jets go up to 430. Put clip in the bottom groove on needle.

In reality, what would cause the bike not to start on the first or second spin on the starter. Is it just down to the pilot jet and fuel/Air mix?
Obviously a good battery and fresh electric components will make things easier but I got that covered.I've read in the Haynes that there is supposed to be a starter jet in the later carbs? Much of what that books says makes no sense...

I run the autolube on my dt125r bottom end with wr200 top end. I just adjusted it to suit the larger capacity. I've run it for years. Autolube is brilliant
