@oldman I can only find a front with -1 tooth donโ€™t know if that will be enough

I run 520, but around stock ratio. Not because I flog it, but to keep rpms down a bit on the street. I change gearing a lot, depending on the (offroad)rides. The little 125 needs all the help it can get.

Try a different front sprocket, they're cheap.
Have a look at www.gearingcommander.com you can see how different sprockets alters the rpm, speed an so on.

I'm running one tooth down on the front sprocket. I find you don't have to work as hard with gear changes when you're out riding and mine actually pulls in 6th after you've backed off the throttle a bit.
Need to be quick getting out of 1st and 2nd though

I'm running the 47t rear sprocket off the 18" offroad wheel, on my supermoto wheels so gearing will have dropped a fair bit. It's meant to be a 44t on the Supermoto rims if I remember right, not rode it properly yet but seems a little rocket in first and second, if it'll cruise happily at 55-60 then I'll leave the gearing ๐Ÿ˜Š

@finnerz89 Iโ€™ve just ordered a -1 tooth front itโ€™s the smallest they make my bike doesent pull on the harsher ground on the higher gears and I donโ€™t have the room on the road to top her out so hopefully this is better

@declan Sounds like you need to tune her up. Even my bog standard DTRE pulled hard to an indicated 85.

@finnerz89 I was a skinny little runt when I got my DT.

When I had the barrel ported, decent pipe, aftermarket CDI and the SM wheels I got a recorded 80 out of it lol.

So, apparently with all the mods it's actually slower lol.

@finnerz89 You joke mate, but that's my thoughts exactly for this Aprilia I'm building. It's a good excuse for me to get into better shape, knowing that every kilogram I lose is extra performance for my little 125.

Definitely look to build a 250 next though.

@calum Iโ€™m used to riding slow pitbikes with super short gears so Iโ€™m not the fastest and Iโ€™ve never really been on road much as Iโ€™m not legal but it pulls hard wheelies and such just the gearing is too long for my needs ๐Ÿ˜•

@declan I'd recommend the smaller front. 1 tooth less on the front should make a big difference mate

@finnerz89 Yeah, due to the price of them, it may be a custom jobby and not a legitimate 250.

I hear the Rotax 257 engine is a straight swap into the Aprilia RS125 frame. So that may be the eventuality I take.

Otherwise, RS250 frame, with an RGV lump as they might be easier to get ahold of.

I'll figure something out for sure though.

Weren't the RS250's the Suzuki lump anyway?

I might go for either a tdr250 or the R1-Z

@finnerz89 You know the dream mate. To be fair if I were going to undertake a bigger bike, it would be the RDZ 500 and actually you know what, that would be what I'd do. I got my little Aprilia, but I wanna keep it Jap stylie!

@finnerz89 You know the dream mate. To be fair if I were going to undertake a bigger bike, it would be the RDZ 500 and actually you know what, that would be what I'd do. I got my little Aprilia, but I wanna keep it Jap stylie!

A hybridised Yamaha R1 with the legendary RD500 lump. Ported for modern times.

                                        Literally beauty and the beast.
