Registering a European Motorcycle UKJust do the following.
Need proof of date of manufacturer so german V5 equivalent registration document is ok. Also you should have a NOVA reference number, so DVLA can recognise it on their system if needed. This proves payed any applicable importation taxes.
MOT: The motorcycle will need to be MOT’d before registering. Any motorcycle MOT centre can do this for you. Of course you have no registration plate at this point. So they will MOT the motorcycle and put just the frame number on the MOT. Cost is the same as a normal MOT, so don’t let them charge you anymore for this service.
Road Tax: When you make the registration application to DVLA. You will need to tax the vehicle. Details of this are on the DVLA V55/5 form. Cost depends on the motorcycle’s cc.
Application of UK Registration: You will need a V55/5 form from DVLA. You can order one online from DVLA and they will even send you a guide of how to fill it out with it. Then you send this form with the £55 registration fee and all the other paperwork requested. (MOT, Logbook or Dating Certificate, evidence of your UK home address, etc)
Then you are done. Normally takes DVLA 2-3 weeks to send you a UK V5 logbook with the motorcycles registration number.

How to travel downhill on your DT -
Sunny day photo shoot@Louis-James do love your DT mate wish mine was half as nice as yours.

DT 125 RE Supermoto BuildIf you get head machined flat you can get away with using a single O ring, any machine shop will cut an O ring groove cheap and use a yz O ring.

DT 125 R bad headlight.Bought these 100/90w Super White Xenon https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-HB12-410-P45T-100-90w-Super-White-Xenon-Headlight-Bulbs-12v/191434589033
Didn,t really make much difference so changed my battery to a 50amp 4S Lipo pack
from a radio controlled car and half the size of DT battery. Although rated as 14.8volt fully charged they are 16.8 volts so added a resistor and a diode to make 12.8volt.
Then got a 12volt relay used for car spotlamps etc and ran live from battery to relay
with a 25amp inline fuse, now my original live for the high and low beam are just trigger wires for the relay.
So when switched on now the bulb gets it's power direct from my 50amp Lipo pack and now my headlight is insane and stood in front of bike now can't look direct at the light as way too bright. Also now no longer have to start the bike to run headlight and can sit forever with headlight on now just turning on my ignition due to the 50amp hard case Lipo pack and lights unlit roads so bright and the beam can go miles now and shines brighter and further than my car spotlamps. -
Athena 170Wossner do a forged piston kit for the dt 125 that is 61mm and the absolute maximum can bore a dt barrel to. Gives around 146cc. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wossner-Piston-Kit-KTM-LC2-1991-2006-Yamaha-DT125-Over-Bore-61mm/371410153446?hash=item5679c52fe6:g:YI8AAOSwHnFVyn8J

Athena 170Best option is to get your standard 125 barrel re-sleeved to 66mm then fit a Wiseco Forged Yamaha BLASTER YFS 200 Piston Kit 66mm. Piston gudgeon pin and small end bearing same size as dt 125, you will also need your head machining to suit. Kpm or Pjme will re-sleeve the barrel to 66mm and machine the head to match and also works out including forged piston kit and work to barrel and head less than half the price of the Athena kit. Also having a steel liner gives you the option of several rebores. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wiseco-Yamaha-BLASTER-YFS-200-Piston-Kit-Top-End-Bearing-66mm-Std-Bore-1988-06-/173027889008?fits=Make%3AYamaha

Kit 200CC to upgrade the Yamaha dtr 125@Louis-James hi yes was aware of that so going to use some steel rod the same diameter as the shaft and and drill and tap to 11mm thread. Then cut the keyway in to match the shaft.

2 stroke dB killers2 stroke silencers are the simplest design of any silencer known to man, there is just a tube running straight through with lots of holes. If you could be bothered just drill every hole 1mm larger than they are and the best sound absorbing material is fibreglass loft insulation cut to the length of the perforated tube then roll tightly around to thickness of silencer. As you can see I went the complete opposite.lol

DVLA V55/5 form
You have to send the german v5 to the dvla with your V55/5 form, you do not get the german document back. They shouldn't need to inspect the bike, @Calum if you want i can send you the V55/5 form as have some and will send full explanation on how to go through the registration process quickly and easily.

BewareI had a couple of bikes stolen in the past with what i thought was secure in a locked garage. Where i live now have to keep my DT in the back garden, not only thousands spent on it is all the hours spent making it how i want it. So have 3 x 16mm hardened chains through 3 different ground anchors and best paddlocks could get. Thatcham approved disc lock as well as a Datatool Alarm with infra red cctv. And just to make sure it's fitted with an Automatrics MTrack 24 hour monitored tracker which is the best tracker out there.
So feel quite safe for my little DT, spent lots on security but only need to buy once and will do for years and for many bikes. only cost now is £129 a year for the tracker monitoring. So feel safe from thieving scumbags as i can be, even if anyone enters garden my cctv alerts me so be amazed if precious DT ever was stolen. -
Selling my dt125re Stefan everts mint conditionI have just paid £2000 last month for my 2003 DT 125 R

Hi All bought another DTCouldn't find any original 2003 decals for it so had to get as set made by TMX Graphix in Portugal, decent quality all laser cut with vinyl thicker and better than Yamaha ones. Not printed they just layer different color vinyls on top of each other then a clear layer on top then heated to bond the layers.

Hi All bought another DTHi All bought another DT for a bit of fun and mid life crisis. Had a couple over 30 years ago and a lot of fun so bought myself a 2003 DT 125 r as a bit of a project to mod and bit of green laning.

Honda NSR 125 performance upgradesHi, ask Karl at kpm and he will do the porting for you and machine the head to match. He can also bore out your standard carb to suit and save money buying carbs, his prices are very reasonable and can supply forged pistons etc.
http://www.kpmotosolutions.com/If you don't mind waiting a while as i'm retired now and have a few nitro race buggy engines that need porting doing, then can do your porting for you but be a while.

RACINGSM Dt125 engineMethanol actually has a lower energy value than petrol, however if you think of an engine as an air pump the prefered air petrol ratio is 12 parts air to one part petrol the prefered Air Fuel ratio for methanol is 3 parts air to one part fuel, hence the need for huge fuel flow, your fuel lines carb jets etc will have to flow 4 times the amount of fuel..So you need huuuuuge jets or a huge carb like the 40mm on this engine.

Zeeltronic for 2003 DT 125 RThink zeel for mine is the PCDI10VT and was getting the Handheld Programmer to go with it. For £250 with the Handheld Programmer I think is a good deal as can tailer the map to suit the engine and riding style, can have an off road map then switch to a top end map for the road and can even switch maps riding.
Paid over £100 for a 3RM-20 CDI , it revs a lot better with it but not £100 better. -
