  • Re-building Shocks?
    MiniaM Minia

    Hello,
Does anyone have any experience with getting a company to rebuild and refurbish shocks? My WR250's shock absorber is pretty much shot, feels like a marshmallow and well being a 2-stroke from 92 I can't really find anything original that's like new and then I bumped into Brooksuspension?

Supposedly, they'll refurbish my shock and send it right back for ยฃ156. Honestly, doesn't seem too expensive and it means I keep the original shock which I would rather do than buy a new shock that would fit but bother me since it wouldn't be pink lol

There is a guide on this forum already. Literally in the "derestricting" sub-forum.

  • DT125R vs DT200R Exhaust.
    MiniaM Minia

@Nottsbiker Even the French market's prices are rising steadily. 3 years ago you could've bought a mint DT125R with 10k km for around 1.2-14k euros. Today you would be looking at about 1.8-2k, maybe higher now.

@Calum I've been in the VR game for four years now. Honestly it's phenomenal how things have progressed, the amount of games which feel like they come from professional studios is still limited but the experience and immersion you can get is fantastic. I'm helping to develop a WW2 mecha-tank VR game at the moment, exciting stuff since that is kind of my niche. I enjoy the co-op stuff. Still early days for VR though, but Project Cars is one of those games that have full VR support and feels great.

@Calum Oh I have no complaints, but it makes it a very expensive TV. I have't played Forza, but I have enjoyed Project Cars a good deal with the wheel setup and a Valve Index VR headset. Honestly great stuff, cheaper than having a track day car for sure lol. Enjoy your fantastic setup man ๐Ÿ™‚

@Calum said in Poseidon Project (Gaming Computer):

@oldman It's just for playing games, not that I really do that. As you say, it's just for browsing forums, watching YouTube/TV and writing code on.

I may play a game here and there but it's more about the build than anything else.

That's a ridiculously nice build but I am sort of hoping you're being sarcastic there, if you only did it for bragging rights and being able to watch cute cat videos on youtube well... I wouldn't have taken a plunge like that. Even for 4k gaming, this is way overkill for most games unless you're fanatical about both quality and quantity. Still, it remains a very crisp and tidy looking setup which most people won't have so hats off to you!

@riley_racer Those tank decals you have there I have ever only seen on the '03 DTR. So you're looking for a set specific to 2003 mate. I'm not sure where to look for the set that you want, but I know the DTR market is a lot bigger in France than here in the UK so you might have more luck looking abroad. I speak French, so I could have a look around if you want?

  • Covid-19
    MiniaM Minia

    Hello,
What a memorable way to help the NHS and people who have been touched personally by this virus, some good news finally. Sad to hear of your loss Calum, you have my sympathy however good it is but glad to hear you are self-isolating and staying safe.

I've been stuck at home now for more than two weeks safe and sound but haven't felt this virus hit my "home" or close folks yet, despite the empty streets and being placed on furlough at one of my jobs. But I'm lucky and in a good position to wait this out for now, I can't imagine what some people are going through right now. Life is unusually cruel lately, but I guess we can keep our heads down working on bikes. Speaking of which, my DT is still in pieces... I need to get off my lazy butt at some point.

    Take care everyone.

    Yo.

Anyone know a place in the UK or Europe that has parts for a 1992 Yamaha WR250? Specifically looking for air filters and the powervalve push rod cover gasket. I've found air filters but they're in america... as for the seal, it's leaking a bit of oil but I've found a detailed thread with part of the solution, problem is I can't find the gasket. Not an emergency since it doesn't harm the bike, just means I need to top up on oil a bit more than usual but I'd like to get it sorted.

Still a great looking bike, kind of prefer it without the luggage wrack and headlamp grill but still looks fantastic. Great job.

  • Dtr 125 no spark
    MiniaM Minia

Get yourself a Haynes manual, will have all the information you need.

No spark, first rule would be side-stand switch. If that doesn't do it you will have to work your way from the battery to the spark plug itself.

Nice. Why not just get a DT200R if you wanted a 200cc? It wouldn't be 98 but... or just buy a 200cc DT engine and fit it into your 125, if I remember right it's a straight bolt-in.
