How many miles to a tank? -
How many miles to a tank?If they rode it they would have got about 2 foot away as it was double disk locked! Hopefully insurance pays good on DTs as I have spent a few bucks on it and he’ll of a lot of time rebuilding it! So I’m now looking for another project

Bulb compatibilityBought this Apico headlight
It’s not very bright & it doesn’t have hi/lo beam.
Is it possible to swap the bulbs for some Brighter ones with hi/lo beam?

My 1998 DTR ProjectDecided to change the seat cover this afternoon before work, also reshaped it so it fits the MX fender more natural & installed my trail tech in my bar pad.
Not sure if I like the cut plastic on the back
How’s my shaping?
Trailtech vapor, not sure how to overcome the crinkle of the pad tape

Ripping@calum ah explains it all

My 1998 DTR Project@calum thanks very much!

RippingHow do motocross bikes go about running in their engines 200 miles on a track would take months
-
My 1998 DTR Project@calum had a micrometer in my tool box not a fancy LCD one though! Simplybearings has the ones in need 20x35x11 so now all I need is the spacer between the bearings? Guessing I will have to get it made up along with the outer spacers or machine down the DT spacer?
Thanks

My 1998 DTR Project@calum thank you I will take a look tomorrow!!
-
My 1998 DTR Project@calum is that custom made bearings? Or would there be a possibility of putting dt bearings in there?
I actually have an original seat cover
-
My 1998 DTR ProjectThanks!
Yeah the WR was awful lol.
I have ran into a problem with the rear wheel though, the dt spindle is too thick but the YZF spindle isn’t long enough. Should I get the dt spindle machined down or extend the YZF spindle? Not sure how I’d got about either to be honest!
Would like to fit a seat from an dt re or dtx and get rid of that hideous red thing though

My 1998 DTR ProjectI have never done any mechanical work to a motorcycle before, I’ve had 3 bikes since doing my CBT this year ha! First was a DT 125 RE and that’s where I fell in love with DTs! I made a silly mistake and swapped it for a WR125X & £500 because I wanted a supermoto. Learnt my lesson and picked up a cheap non runner DTR, however I haven’t photographed every part of the rebuild which I regret I have started taking a few. The build is far from complete having a baby on the way my budget is very tight.
Pretty much how it looked when I first got it, like some 12 year old got excited on need for speed sticking decals on. By this point I had put on some HEL brake lines, red ones to keep the colour scheme
Realised the frame had been painted with hammerite smooth so I stripped it to get the frame painted properly.
Must of been run to the ground, just look at that piston! Wish I took pics of the head gasket melted to the head.
Completely stripped
So after this I have no more pics until today when I began to put on my YZF-R125 wheels, since the last photo all stickers where removed(kind of) frame swing arm & forks were powder coated, fitted a new engine with a skimmed head and 5mm oversized wossner piston with the power valve pinned open.
Here she is starting to look somewhat decent.
& a new headlight.
Thanks for all your help along the way & I shall update as I progress!
