    @calum I will agree with you about the sweet spot....RD 125, 250 ,350 ,500 not counting the 50 or air cooled modles as well as rgv 250, 500 plus the Dt modles......CR's....KX's the list goes on..its just the sound and smell of a two stroke preferably with a non standard pipe/s . As for electric bikes I'm coming round to these as I like some of the e-mountain bikes but at around 3 grand for a good one I can get a well sorted DTR for that. Plus I've had motorbikes since I was 18 and have never considered myself a biker but just love riding and tinkering with them. But due to my wife being ill and work have had a four year break and I'm now looking forward to getting back into them and getting a DTR is now the goal.

    Hello “old” I am “young”.

    Age isn’t an issue around here, if anything it’s welcomed.
    In your case you got to live in and enjoy an era of biking that’s now somewhere between a daydream and a winning lottery ticket for us to be able to enjoy once again. Not that it’d ever be the same. For that reason all the stories and experiences you have are a gold mine
    Good to have you here mate 🙂

    @SpookDog
    Click on your name so it takes you to your profile
    Top right of your profile you’ll see a grey circle with three dots in it, click that and voila!

    Clicking the background area behind that will give you the option to upload a photo for your profile, the same applies for the icon for your name

    Hope that helps

    @Calum hi all i changed the front to a 15 now and its fine now does 68 in 5th and should rev out in 6th should do about 80 but haven't had a open road with out traffic, very strange to lower the std gearing would this been part of the restriction ?

    @Darty Not much to tell as yet - ran the mic' over it and put it on the surface table to check true / balance...so far so good. However whether it's chocolate, or had poor heat treatment, etc...time will tell. I'll post as I learn about it.

    @shultz Hello and welcome. Nice looking dt there mate. What's the plan for it then a completely original as it left the factory restoration or a 'restomod' with a few upgrades? And yes, those guys from BAracing do some seriously impressive work.

    @Ronnie hello and welcome Ronnie. If it's been laid up in the garden for a few years my guess is the carb may need a good clean. Take the float bowl off to get to the jets, take them out and blow them through. Maybe just with your mouth and wash with petrol or get a can of carb cleaner or if you're not confident to take the carb apart you could try some fuel system cleaner that you add to the fuel tank but if you get yourself a Haynes manual you can't really go wrong and you'll almost certainly use the manual again and again, definitely a worthwhile investment. As for the powervalve, that may just need a clean to stop it sticking. I'm sure somewhere on this forum there's a link to download the manual for free. Good luck and when you get a chance share a few pics of your new ride.

    @markus-w just move the reeds switch from the Rev gauges and tape it up about 6” away from the Rev gauge. Don’t cut it out. Took me 15 mins to do And makes a great difference. Because it used to rev up to about 7500-8000rpm and stop. Now it will happily rev to 11000rpm
