Why you running a copper head gasket? They still need sealant IIRC. Just use genuine or Athena head gasket.

@declan Bike theft is everywhere in the UK No Exceptions. The law needs to come down hard on it in my opinion. It's disgraceful

@shaunp1912 The DTR's, unlike the E, don't generate enough power to operate the electrical components properly. A flat battery, even on an E, causes issues with the valve. So that sounds like your problem.

No, all DT125RE's came with YPVS installed. Older 80's DT's, maybe with valves. I've seen a good number of 90's DT's without as well. But the majority of them out there have YPVS installed.

Interestingly, had a new MOT on 5 November. Lost 5,000(+) miles off its mileage, so either had new clocks or up for sale soon with lower mileage.

Oil capacity will be stamped on the case near where you pour in the oil it should be 750 ml in my experience I hate changing plugs on the dt I had to get a ratcheting spanner for it as it was a nightmare just take your time with everything although it’s basic maintenance all’s it takes is one snapped bolt and it’s s garage job so just don’t rush and it will be a really easy

@Glynn123 100% original unopened engine,it was the reason i bought it.Unfortunately don't have a pic from the day of purchase,it could be a highly recommended scrap yard candidate. I have some old photos from the repair of the plastics, when i make a thread you'll see.

Thanks all, I'll get some photos soon, there are one or two cosmetic bits I want to change as I like the standard look rather than the teenager one.

Thanks. The bike is from 1993, I think someone has put later decals on, should it have the blue and pink ones, and blue fork gaiters?

Aftermarket ignition system is one of the best mods for these. Make sure you got a decent 3MB head, or a reworked 3BN head.
