Ptsch, they were shite OEM anyway. Best throw away most the bits and upgrade it all to your preference. Which is exactly what you're doing 😛

@DTR-NSR that’s what I was going for that old dull gold not the best but everything I’ve done is better than it was and it’s now a semi respectable bike that isn’t rusty or broken everywhere you look

I wasn't happy with the way the bike turned out the black engine turned hideous when fuel touched it and the gold frame was just a bit too much so now the frame is satin black as are the rims and I've been working on the engine it's not finished yet but I'm happy with the over all look, it needed mains and seals so it seemed the perfect time to paint it up also have a stainless bolt kit coming for the engine. It does need new rings but I'll get them at a later date, also got v force reeds on there

@declan I quite like the blue barrel and head. Can I pick your brains on the wheels please? I plan on doing my wheels satin black. Have you got any tips for Which primer to help the paint adhere to the standard (chrome?) Rims please? Also which paint and lacquer please? I've considered powder coating but I believe I'd have to strip and rebuild the wheels

@markus-w I can't help you out too much bud the wheels were just a quick and dirty job, originally I sprayed my rims Matt black no primer no lacquer and it adhered almost perfect to them I went over that with a gold brush on paint rustoleum I think it was and that adheres to anything then I just brushed satin black over that I intend on doing them properly at some point, if I were doing it without powder coating I would use a self etching primer cover the chrome fully them just pick a good quality paint of your choice and do light coats one 500ml can should be enough for both wheels providing you do light costs I personally wouldn't bother with lacquer but that's your call.
