If it hasn't worked since you first got the bike, you may have the wrong one installed. There are two different types.

I have an universal temp gauge on my radiator, wrosk good.
Goes on pretty hard, but fits both my Dt and my wr250r

How hot is the bike running?

Might be a daft question but is it getting hot enough to show on the gauge. I seem to remember my previous DT-R's would run just under halfway on the gauge.

@nottsbiker If the themostat has been removed, then it's going to take a VERY long time to warm up.

Very bad for engines running without a thermostat.

@jens-eskildsen thank you for that I'm going to get one as one it looks cool and mine rises but its never ever above 1/8-1/4 on the gauge might be the thermostat is not reading right anymore but it could be fine so thanks

Sounds right with the reading, mine is just above where the line in the display starts to thicken, but will get hot in deep sand or slow technical trails.

Photo for clarification, mine is usually well below this reading:

@jens-eskildsen mine don't get that far even when I been off road but I am running pure water doubt it could make that much difference but we will see as I'm getting one anyway they look good 😀

@terry-tz mine doesent read at all and my bike warms up real quick faster than my 4 stroke it gets really hot but just seems that it's the way the engine likes it tbh since I don't cruise any where it's always full throttle If the roads clear
