wr200 rebuild

I love it! Want a wr200 project too. Look great next to my DTR / wr200 hybrid
-
@louis-james
Thats a DT200WR not a WR200
-
@scrimsmustang what is the main difference? I believe one is premix and not sure if one was sleeved cylinders
-
Plastic / metal tank
Number plate holder and tail light
Ignition switch
Speedometer and idiot lights
Oil pump and tank
Passenger footpegs
Indicators
Silencer typeI think that the cylinder and carb might be tuned differently too
-
As above, DT deffo has steel tank and indicators. WR I had only had lights on or off no high,low no horn no brake lights, plastic tank. I think topends where 3XP on both, cant remember if carbs where different.
91 DT200WR I owned a long time
2000 WR200 I owned a looonnnggg time ago
-
Your first one was very similar to mine. I changed the vivid magenta seat for black to match the powder coated frame in black as the white was in very poor condition and not to my liking. My forks were a cherry red if I remember correctly.
Sold it for a about £750 7+ years ago unregistered and have regretted it ever since.
Btw didn't you have a WR250Z as well?
-
Ps i also had a full FMF system on mine which transformed the character of the bike
-
Yes I had a brand new 250 way back in 04
-
Ended up Yellow in the end
-
Nice one mate
Hopefully this 200 will turn out just out as tidy!
-
@scrimsmustang Lovely bike, out of curiosity why did you go for a colour change tho???

Because I fitted a large capacity tank I got it in Yellow and went for the Hurricane Hanna look, plus the bike was used for purpose and it looked 10 years old when it was 3 months old.
This was its first few times it was ever used.
-
@scrimsmustang Now that's what they call a bog for-sure!!!
-
@cyber-ninja
Makes me feel old lol..............

Both WR's are rare. The 250Z was made for quite a number of years but it was only iirc France and maybe Australia that got the road legal ones as seen in blue / yellow. The 200 in both guises, the WR was sold here along with the USA etc. The DT-WR version seems to have been an Asia only market bike.
Both are rare but in my own personal opinion the 200 is the best blend of reliability, power, suspension and looks you can get with a road going trail bike. I'd make the 250 into a mental supermoto
-
It is a dt200wr yes running the 3xp cylinder and head and a tm30ss carb that I'm planning to drop into the dt125r
-
The 04 250 I had was nothing more than a 2004 YZ250 with a lighting coil and lights etc fitted France and Oz only for them in 2001 and 2004 I got mine from France, it did not have a wide ratio WR ! gearbox like the early ninety's WR250,s. Even still had the YZ250 decals on the rear fender, WR250Z decals where in the YZ spares package that comes with a new YZ.
-
@scrimsmustang always liked the yz250 more than enough power, quick little bikes
