    Hey looking smart.

I mean, it's out now, may as well rebuild it yourself.

I dunno, depends whether you want it rebuilt or not. What's the mileage? These types of bikes tend to be owned by more mature owners so don't tend to need to rebuilding as often.

At worst, I'd throw a set of rings in there. They actually say not to clean the carbon off the piston as it retains the heat and allows the gases to propagate faster = more power. Well there goes the theory.

The head should be polished to a mirror sheen though.

    Looking good though.

@Calum 15.000 km i think, its estimated time for a change of pistons i guess.

i would love to rebuild it myself, but i will not risk this engine. first i need to learn on dtx and rs 125 then i will adventure on this beast.

i think i will replace everything, pistons, pv's, pulleys, water inlets , basically make a complety fresh engine. then i will know what to expect from the engine.

i will take more time to make it running but i have more insurance that it dont break so easily.

btw, what products you guys use to clean engine, carbs and general parts? i heard brake cleaner is good, but want to know what you use first.

@pedrobatista10 You can clean most things with Carb cleaner, which is not too abrasive. 😉

@pedrobatista10 If you can get the parts to rebuild, then I would.

I remember one day riding to work, the rear brake seals failed. Leaking fluid all over my wheels. Discolouring the paint work 😞

@pedrobatista10 If you wish to repaint them then just give them a rub down with some wet n' dry, then respray them with some Very High Temperature paint for a good finish. If the pistons are not damaged in any way, then you could replace the seals if needs be? I would perform a full strip down, thoroughly clean everything with a pressure washer, then give the outside of the pistons a very light rub with some fine wet n' dry and ruba small amount of copper slip on the outsides only. Then rebuild with new seals if required and perhaps new brass banjo bolts & nipples. They look to be in good overall condition, so a strip, clean, re-grease and rebuild might just be enough??? 😉

guys i think i will use vapour blasting services on carbs, engine cases, brembo calipers and some other parts to make it look mint condition. and price is reasonable.

i saw some photos and i like how it looks.

@NINJA @Calum its possible to powder coating the calipers? i want the original gold colour on them.

@pedrobatista10 yes they can be powder coated, seek out a local firm and ask their advice.

@Calum I thought that was the case, I'd be checking the powervalves carefully as I know on the Suzuki's there prone to failing and dropping the power valve into the cylinder, ouch!

@DTR-NSR you are right, that the most dangerous part on engine, if the pin get lose can damage engine pretty bad. thats why i will change it

@NINJA will do that. thanks 🙂

                            hi

i will send my carburetors and brembo calipers to rebuild to "MHF Restoration Macclesfield Cheshire" in UK. they do amazing jobs in restauration projects.

                            anyone used this company before?

Can't say that I have. But I have never needed a carb being rebuilt before.

I literally could only afford to do this to one bike, let alone two!
