    Hello , first post here
My dad had a dt 125 r since i was born but one time he lost the key to it so he broke the key thing and he replaced it with a 4wire one wich is for little bikes i think just so he could get the power valve to work maybe .
But now i ordered a key for it but the key has a jack with 3cables and a seperate cable and my bike has a 5cable jack and i was wondering if i could make it work somehow by cutting the cables and connecting them with electrical tape
But i don't know the year of my bike and i can't seem to find something about it maybe someone can help me find the year of the bike
I would be thankfull for any type of help

I would get the wiring diagram for your model year and for the ignition switch you bought. Ultimately I am sure it can be adapted to work, although I am not sure if taping the cables is really what you want. It will just come loose.

The connector block can just be disassembled and then reassembled once you have identified which cable goes where.

Should be stamped into the frames headstock. Throttle side. Try the engine number as well. Should be on the gear change side, above the front sprocket. I’m going to hazard a guess that there’s no number plate?…

@erion to identify the year you need to read the frame number on the headstock. If you care to tell me the first few digits I may be able to help you with it. Should begin 3DB123 Or 3MD123 Or 4BL123? I'm guessing you don't know the reg? There's a company on Facebook called vin to reg/ reg to vin. They will find the reg from your frame number for £5 which you only pay if they find it.

And there is a number in the cylinder block wich may be the engine number and its 3mb00

Don’t want the cylinder barrel/block. You want the number above the front sprocket, just below/behind the carburettor…

Yeah, it should be if it’s a numbers matching, righteous bike 🙂
Has this bike ever been registered in the UK before? If it has I’d contact the DVLC and ask them. Or maybe try their website? If it’s not UK registered there are hoops you have to jump through that I know nothing about…
Someone here will know though 🙂 …

It might be a 94 bike then. They didn’t do RE’s till 2004 or 6

@SpookDog my relatives bought it in switzerland from a neighbour in 2006 i think and they imported it here in kosovo its should of been registered in swiss but by many chances we are the 2nd owners of the bike and that makes me think its a model that was exported to swiss

Electric motor that the two cables come out of. Makes a noise when you turn the key.
If you count how many wires the servo connector has you can date the bike…
