      Sorry to butt in the thread, but has anyone got any idea why... when I connected up a working servo to the plugs it was completely dead? No cleaning cycle whatsoever, cables not connected so no load on it. Just not working at all. What's the most likely causes? Could it be a CDI issue? (03 DTR) I want to put a servo on desperately. Cheers.

        Yeah motor can be dead, or faulty cdi.

        Multi meter on the plugs will tell you.

          Mine was pinned when i bought the bike, reinstating the servo etc made a huge difference for me

            Or overtightened servo tensioners . I was setting them on and if they are not set properly , the servo will not reset when ignition turned on

                @ijohney123 just plug and play mate. My servo was unplugged with the cables overtightened so the pulley didn't move

                  No , I had a good conectors on bike so when Im rebuilt it was just plug out - plug in . Try to loose the tensioners a bit . There is a "how to" in haynes manual 0_1492858857458_14928588372441878779145.jpg

                    Well I've took the servo and everything off made sure wasn't over tight then plugged back it but does the cleaning cycle really fast and doesn't move at all with the bike on any ideas

                      @vtrn_raptor it won't move until you start to rev the bike mate. I think it starts to open up around 6000rpm

                          5 wires mate and it didn't budge at all even up to 7k

                              Yeah it's all connected to the cdi I've ordered a new servo see if that helps if not then it's the cdi

                                @vtrn_raptor Yeah it won't, I don't think it does at all in neutral.

                                It's easy to tell if the servo is operated as it will pull right through the rev range.

                                    @vtrn_raptor Bad battery can do that. Also if it isn't setup the correct way, i.e. the cables the wrog way round.

                                      The cables are the right way round I followed a Haynes manual the servos exactly the same without cables connected so ima try the new servo then battery if not either I'll replace the cdi bike was pinned via the servo and could be the reason it was pinned in the first place

                                          Old thread alert, but! My servo was doing this when I used inferior 2stroke oil and the power valve was gummed up and sticky. As soon as I cleaned of the varnish/gumpf it operated sweet and smooth…
