Hello guys first post and I'm in need of help I brought my dt a few days ago and I'm doing a lot of work on it and I noticed the oil pump cable is completely slack does this mean it's getting no oil at idle?

The oil will still pump, but it does relate to the throttle position.

If you were watching my video then it wants to be setup similar to that. I adjusted it so that even on idle it injects a little more.

@Calum post the link of the video please 😊 I did similar think. There is an adjuster for slack of the cable going to pump , I am tighten it few threads so its preloaded a bit , it should give more oil in.

Yeah it looks like your cable or clutch cover id damaged. The oil cable should sit within the oil pump housing. Fastened both sides by a circlip and the cable itself.

@Calum I'm just gonna use some metal bushings as spacers and hope for the best thank you for your help!.

@declan so it is really important that you don't bodge this part.

If the casing is damaged, I would be much more inclined to replace the clutch cover.

                    For the sake of £20

@declan So the oil pump cable shouldn't fall through the cover. So.is the cable damaged.

@Calum not that I can see I've checked it over I found a video on YouTube that showed the exact same thing mine does but it was foreign so I couldn't tell if he was showing a fault or how it normally is

@declan You know what I am saying though?

The cable shouldn't be able to go all the way through. So that should tell you what has gone wrong.

Is it possible that the two cables have been swapped?!

@Mightyman It doesn't look that way, note the space for the circlip on the cable

@Calum and there's no way it could have stretched that much surely

@declan The cable isn't stretched. The whole thing has gone into the oil pump housing.

The metal piece with the reecess cut out should be way back inside the cutaway. The circlip stops it falling back out of the case and it is stopped by the fact the whole cable does not fit inside the housing.

I get the impression I am not making it very clear.

@Calum no I completely understand that's why I mentioned the bushings to it takes up the cable slack

This is how mine looks like. No circlips , basically it holds on a rubber o ring inside the bore and if I want I can pull it out.
