Mine was smothered in silicone. Doubt you'll get a glue that remains flexible enough, although a contact adhesive like carpet glue might work.

Ordered the new one but will repair old one when I get it off, what glue did you use and how is it holding up?

I'd try super glue as well

Not how I'd do it. Replace the item, it's cheap enough new from Yamaha.

Ultimately if that part starts to weep, you're going to run your bike lean, and before you know it, you'll burn a hole through your piston, as well as your wallet.

And people wonder why DT's can be in right dog states.

No notification of delivery yet, maybe tomorrow, would only use old one as emergency spare if I was satisfied it was serviceable. Lasted a fair few years so new one will last a while, will probably replace the 89 as well when I get that far, peace of mind and no disappointment

@oldman did they have to order it? If so I've had it a few times now where they have refunded and sent me a email to say the part had been discontinued,

I'm worried that some of the perishable items like these will run out. Hopefully if there is enough demand Yamaha or a 3rd party will step in and do a production run.

Ordered from csml, haven't had a failed delivery yet, shows in stock, will let you know when I receive delivery notification.

At a loose end this eve so decided to start stripping down white 89 bike, all went well and overall in better condition at the start from the 88. Couple of minor defects found, looks like the rear caliper was resprayed with the pads in place, fair bit of overspray on other items. Draining oil overnight and continue tomorrow, will start new thread for this one.0_1506115790935_20170922_222208.jpg

As per my other post fitted 89 intake to bike, marked 3et for flat side carb, my 88 had the intake for the original type carb so someone has fitted a flat side at some point. Should have twigged really but there you go. Changed the main jet for 210 as per original spec seeing as I had the original exhaust back on, started straight away when I put it all back together, with a few carb adjustments running well, need to ride it now, will try and book an mot as soon as possible and when time allows.

Those of you who have been following the rebuild will know I was able to get original graphics from Italy, but wanted to save those for if and when I am able to find better panels. So I had copies made to use on the existing panels and have just fitted them to the bike. Looks much better as it originally left the factory, but comparing with original photo one graphic is missing and not in the pack from Italy. If you have one knocking around I could borrow to get copied would be grateful and pay all postage costs (special delivery), and I will give you a big smile in return😁 In the photos below it is on the right hand scoop continuing on to tank past the hole in the scoop.! 0_1507133557990_20171004_161302-960x960.jpg 0_1507133578028_20171004_161314-960x960.jpg
