I have fitted an Athena 170 kit and had it ported by mick abbey and running it at the recommended 3% mix using putline MX7 does anyone run a weaker mix and don’t have any issues because I am getting quite a bit of oil out the end of the tail pipe as well as any joints that aren’t perfectly sealed dripping onto my swing arm and it’s starting to p%£s me off

Copy carbsHi all I am after opinions and suggestions on copy carbs I have just ordered a Athena 170 kit which I intended to send off to Mick Abbey for porting so I am looking to replace the carb with a 32mm there seem to be a lot of copy Mikuni out and my question is are they any good or should I spend out for a genuine one it’s just my spending on my bike is adding up and if I can save a hundred quid by getting a copy without affecting performance then why not. Also has anyone got an opinion on v force reed block are they worth it and there are copy versions of those as well but I don’t fancy bit’s breaking off and going through my engine any thoughts on those would be appreciated

Pedmoto sg1I will start with what a lovely exhaust fitted perfectly both upper and front lower brackets lined up with no need for any tweaking and the welding is lovely even though I am not a fan of the look of the tail pipe it to has been made to a very high standard. The joint between the front and rear pipes is a nice snug fit with no need for any sealant. The first thing you realise with it fitted is its sound you could be mistaken to think it a YZ and not a DT because I have fitted a zeeltronic to the bike I have altered the jetting 27.5 pilot 210 on the main which allows the bike to be much easier to start when the bike has cooled down a bit but not needing choke but when it was cold with the DEP on it was a bit to rich on bottom end this pipe has cleaned that right up. Performance has changed significantly smoother acceleration up to about 7 grand then it flattens off until it gets to just over 8 and then it just goes and accelerates hard up to about 9 and a half and holding on to its power much easier all in all great pipe well worth what I paid for it such a shame that they are no longer made just need to get the zeel tweaked as I am running the safe map at the mo

Dt200r oil pumpI am thinking of getting the Athena 170 kit but as I understand it Athena recommend disconnecting the oil pump and premixing which I have always found to be a pain in the ass so I was wondering if anyone has ever fitted a dt200r oil pump is it even possible or are there to many differences I would appreciate anyones thoughts on the idea

Gear shift for DT 125 RWhen I bought my 2002 dt125r it had a few apico bits on it and one of them was a gear change lever I was told that all the bits were from a yz125

ZeeltronicHi all I am just after some advice on what to do and what to look out for when I start to play with the zeeltronic cdi unit my dt125r has had the usual things done DEP exhaust read switch moved air box snorkel removed I have read an article that when they were tuning the timing they also Re-jetted the carb was just wondering what others had experienced I do realise that every bike is different so just after a few pointers cheers

Aftermarket throttle cableAll routed right and double checked to make sure the cable is for the right year it’s only wrong on the oil pump side it’s like the inner is about 12mm to long
-
Aftermarket throttle cableI have been trying to get a friend’s 2002 dt125r running properly and get it to be reliable the throttle cable fitted on the bike wasn’t right the cable going to the oil pump the inner cable was way to long so the outer cable was packed out with washers not the best solution so I ordered a throttle cable for the bike from hilevel fitted it to be faced with the same problem you can’t fit the cable wrong has anyone else had this problem

On power on top end@SpookDog cheers for that I have dropped the main jet down to a 225 it’s the closest one I had got some others on order and that has improved thing quite a bit the pilot jet in it is a 25 and the bottom end is running weak I am going to do a vacuum/ pressure test on the engine to check for air leaks but was wondering if it common to up the pilot jet or is it pointing to other issues cheers once again

On power on top endI hope I am posting this right ok where do I start a friend of mine has just bought a 2002 dt125r got it cheap enough but it not running right starts fine idles ok but from about 5 grand it lacks power to the point that when you get to about 7 grand it’s like the bike is trying to ride through deep mud it doesn’t splutter and it doesn’t feel like it’s not getting enough fuel it’s like your just not giving it enough throttle the higher the gear your in the worse it gets the bike is fitted with DEP front and back the snorkel has been removed and the air box drilled I have been through the carb it wasn’t clean but I have seen a LOT worse I have also checked the power valve it was slightly out so adjusted it when you turn the bike on it does go through the cleaning cycle but none of what I have done has had any affect also the read switch has been moved it wasn’t far enough away so moved it even further o yea the carb is fitted with a 260 main jet that doesn’t look new so has been in there a while one thing that I did notice is the little plastic thing that goes around the main jet and pilot jet is missing don’t know what effect this would have anyone got any ideas please
