I'm not familiar with the market, but a cylinder piston combo with all the work ready to go has got to be £300+. Any more than that then I wouldn't understand why someone wouldn't go for a brand new Athena 125 kit, or a little extra for the 170 kit. The Zeeltronic, new they're around £240, so with the programmer I'd say £160ish is what I'd pay, otherwise I'd just go new. Hope that helps.

@HOTSHOT-III Absolutely! The low to mid range is really quite something. I’m cruising at 55 @ 5K rpm so nicely, I’ve just got a new 18T front sprocket to try. I’m hoping it’ll make me rev it more. I’m riding it like a 4/ single at the moment! I’ve upped the oil to just about 2.5%. I’ve been limp mode riding before now. I’ve just gotten over a spell of the pilot jet and main jet being partially blocked! (I thought the new CDI was failing!) it seems the paper-like filter was shedding micro fibres! New tap, new pipe, new filter!… Now that I can say it’s running properly! I’m going to get the auto lube refreshed and put back on… Thanks for the info! Priceless!! …

@old-boy-racer Just change the bolt-screw to match. Or drill the new bluey ones (to match)

@BEng1968 The angle isn’t ideal but in reality doesn’t affect running. I used to run 30mm dellorto carbs on lambrettas and Vespas . They used to sit at an angle but run fine

@old-boy-racer Don’t forget that the oil pump is calibrated to the carb. It’s the right amount of oil for the air-petrol mix going in. If you put a much bigger carb on I would start thinking about the oil pump… Do you get what I’m saying? The pump is running at 50:1 why would premixing at 50:1 be any different? Think about it … PS what carb does the Dtr 200 run? Cause the pump is calibrated to the carb, not the cylinder…

@old-boy-racer Hi there, Zeeltronic is just about the best bang for buck you can get in my opinion. Of course this depends on what model/year/location DTR you've got. It's all diminishing returns though, once you've got a decent exhaust and the zeel, everything else is just marginal gains. Earlier this year I fitted the VForce4 Reed block to my Yamaha. The Athena 170 kit is not a bad upgrade too if you're after a bit more midrange poke.

@old-boy-racer I’ve pretty much had the same symptoms with my sons 2002 DT. Cleaned the carb put everything back to standard and worked forward from then on. I had the luxury of a dodgy oil pump to start off with then wrong main jet caused it to splutter and cut out high up in the rev range. New oil pump and standard 240 main jet sorted that. It’s very surprising how little you need change the carb if not at all by running a different exhaust. Good luck I’m sure you’ll get it sorted !
