Nope, charging units on these bikes are pretty solid.
You will have to do an impedance test against the coils to see whether or not they are faulty.

Same here mate . I think its rectifier . I would say test it charged and let it run for few minutes. Im heard if its below 13.2V its bad . Mine is charged like 13.34V and always ends up below 12V

Fix it instead of masking the problems. Get a cheap multimeter, and we will help you out. After that, get a capacitor if you want.

Start the bike, then test the voltage at the battery. You're looking for about 13.5 at idle and 14V with the revs up

Must be generating power.

Yes runs perfectly but brand new battary only lasted a couple days I thought it was the battary took it back and got another and that's done the same now all the lights work when running but doesn't charge the battary

Did you checked all wires and connectors from generator to rectifier?

Yes all
Look pretty good no damage that I can see nothing corroded bikes almost new so abit strange is it possible I'm ising the wrong battary I just got one that had the same dimensions and 12v ect surly it can't be that bad -

wrote on 26 May 2017, 14:30 last edited by@Mightyman little bit more to it than that bud. Obviously needs to be rated appropriately otherwise the engine will drain more power from the battery than the battery can supply. But the DT's could probably run off AA batteries lol.

Would be great -

I would be checking continuity between the genny and the battery terminals. It sounds like the engine is generating power enough to sort itself out, it's just a case of sorting out the charging circuit out.

It's weird somtimes I think it may be shooting so where it has electric start and also kick start the other day I turned the ignition in and forgot the red on of switch so it was off but when I kicked the bike it was firing envelope a little smoke from the exhaust it wouldn't fully start but was 100% firing then die then I looked at the switch seen it was of turned it on and it started right up could this be an issue or is this normal thanks
