@vtrn_raptor yes it can cause problems
and it is another throttle stage for more fuel ie 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and

So this could be my issue. The guy I brought the bike off had pinned the pv and have messed about with the carb to get it to run after changing the piston I realised their must have been an air leak somewhere on the bike as wouldn't stay running. I took the carb off to discover the mixture screw was seized so I replaced the carb the only thing I haven't done is touch the needle on the throttle and left it how I got the bike

@vtrn_raptor have you checked I know this is silly and I know I'm contradicting myself but considering I think its rich but check anyway is the fuel flowing fine from tank to carb

I've come to the conclusion something is wrong with the carb as wasn't having this problem with old carb but was running to lean that's the reason I got this one that's probably why I got the carb so cheap ..........

My clip is in the middle, yours is a noth lower, which raised the needle, making it richer.

@vtrn_raptor have you documented the setting on the carb before you started playing with them

The first carb couldn't check nothing as mixture screw was seized but with this one everything was set up how the Haynes said but looking at the carb compared to the old one theirs pipes missing it's got aftermarket hex screw holding the face on and what's worse is the kid I got it off kept his Dt and claimed the carb was a spare so was probably broke when I brought it can't really complain though only paid £25

@terry-tz might be missing something but given everyone is suing rich why didn't he adjust the needle to suit mine was lean and runs much better on the lowest needle clip?
