Lithium soap?
I mean, not much point really.
Any grease you pack in there is going to burn off pretty quickly, and the excess unburnt two stroke oil is going to cake the valve.
My recommendation would be to decoke it and clean it every once in a while.
Ensure once in a while you give the bike hell, but other than that, that's about it
-
@irongamer727 No?
I mean, you use components that wear together. Brand new cylinder, brand new Powervalve bushes. Both will wear together.
But the idea is that the bushes have O-Rings on them, so there should be very little metal on metal contact. It's not a highload component. Therefore, wear is minimal.
You could put some white lithium grease on the components upon assembly, but it WILL burn off and eventually become a dry item.
As said, they get caked in carbon and two stroke so it's a moot point anyway
-
@irongamer727 Yeah, as said, I really wouldn't go mad on it, cause it's going to burn off any how. Two stroke will probably be the best option here.
-
@irongamer727 I used 2 stroke on mine so do as I did as I think the grease is highly not needed and I personally would not trust the grease as I’ve heated grease up general purpose ad it gets quite waxy and may even combust

Didnt bother lubing my PV after rebuilding, ensured all surfaces were very clean and mirror polished, it doesnt do a full rotation and moves as much as say a rev counter or speedometer, the bushes would well outlast a piston un lubed, the thing you should really worry about it carbon sticking to the powervalve, so keep it clean and if you can be arsed mirror polish it.
-
@irongamer727 Pretty sure it comes with the Athena gasket kit.
I can't say I have ever gone out my way to replace the o ring or clean the valve.
-
@irongamer727 when Im cleaned mine , I had new seal and old seal in hand and couldnt tell the difference.
-
The Haynes manual says you need to make sure the pv is mounted correctly and not 180° wrong. Is it possible to mount it wrong? I mean it only fits one way?
-
@irongamer727 I guess it’s in the manual for a reason but I don’t actually know
-
@irongamer727 It means ensuring it's not upside down....I'd imagine.
-
Yup, it seems you can fit it upside down, thus restricking the bike.
Im pretty sure some bikes where sold in a restricted version like this. -
Can you twist and turn the servo motor for the pv without risking causing damage to it? I need to do so since the current setting is not optimal.
-
@irongamer727 Your servo is fubar anyway right? So can't see what harm it would do.
-
Nope have a new one
-
-
my question is wheather or not you could "rotate" the servo manually in order to adjust the pv better. The 2nd pulley is obviously a bit too far out.
