    The fact that it already doesn't work should give you enough of an idea that they are a very poor preventative measure for thieves.

    If you want something to STOP them, buy a very loud alarmed disk lock. Otherwise it will only take a couple of whacks of the handlebars to break it again. If by some chance they can't break it, they'll probably just try and lift it up and walk it away.

      Its a simple mechanism that eject the pin out of your ignition to the top yoke , there is a lil hole for it. Bit tricky on my bike as well , needs a bit wiggle wiggle to lock it.
      Also - if ypu want to lock your bike to protect it from the thiefs , get a u-lock and chain and if the bike is in garden- get some ground anchor bracket . They always try and if they cant lift it they'll give up.

        I wouldn't bother with that. Seen them snapped quite easily. I would use a ground anchor and chain when at home and a chain around the wheel when out. Always try and chain it to something when your out. Remember even your own garden isn't safe.

        When I lived at my parents we had a large garden with a dog that always barked at strangers yet one night I found my motorbike was missing!! Ran up the garden at 3am in my pants to find her resting at the side of the road on the kick stand. Guessing they went to get a van. I was very lucky

            @vtrn_raptor I use an alarmed Xeno disc lock on my bike when out. I am also considering buying one of these too;

            http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-DT-125-MX-Brake-Lever-Throttle-Security-Lock-/301814969969?hash=item464592f671:g:1FoAAOSwbwlXBGFt

            Has anyone tried them and would they recommend getting one? There very light and compact, so easily transportable, but are they a good form of security and a deterrent for the scumbags of this world???

                @Zrako Maybe, I couldn't find a review showing if it was cracked open at all. There are also these two type's which look a bit more secure;

                  @CYBER-NINJA I would trust the datatool 👍they are leading brand in motorcycle security systems. Looks solid

                  The second one looks like its more reliable as the space for the lever is really tight, might not fit some kinds of lever also... If I forget for a second that I know the datatool brand I will probably go for the black one ... hard to choose 😀

                                My mate have something like this on his husaberg . Its on the side of his head stem and locks inside steer tube. Its all steel like but in shorter diameter with longer bar might be also easy to break..

                                        If u don't have much money but need a chain then get yourself some boat anchor chain it's incredibly strong and cheaper than a shop bought MC chain
