That's so cool! It's been ages since I have been on my DT. I ought to sort the bits out on it and get it up and running again. My ETX is close to being done as well and that thing will rip when it's finished

RD and DT LC are the same block, but gear ratios differ. RD has a close ratio gearbox and DT has a wide ratio. Close ratio is not ideal if you want to go offroad IMO. Primary drive with clutch and 'middle shaft' length differs in the the LC engines I compared. Definitely get a LC YPVS engine if you go that route, -more usable power than without power valve. I have a DT LC YPVS close to stock, I reshaped the head and installed a Zeeltronic and put in 0,3mm carbon reed petals, the rest is stock. Goes well and has really good midrange torque for a 125. I think the DTR and TZR engines are the same block too, but there is probably the same gear ratio difference, and possibly more I have not tried dropping in a DTR engine in a LC frame (have only one DTR engine and many LC's), but have thought about it. Let us know if you try it!

@Stevie-Wonder Thanks bud Greta (for that is her name as she's noisy, irritating, aimed squarely at the youth market and responsible for thousands of them bunking off school all over the world) cost me half as much as my '93 due to the mileage and had a thick layer of grime all over due to years of grinding commuting. I gave her a scrub with Jizer (several times) and this is what was underneath Here are the part #s for the toolbox and lid, bit pricey IMO and you'd have to get the lugs welded on to a non-e start frame. Be a nice touch if you were getting it powdercoated sometime though https://www.cmsnl.com/products/boxtool_55v2817301/ https://www.cmsnl.com/products/lid_55v2818500/

  • Q plate Dt125 worth restoring?

@H22dan Hi Dan a Q plate bike will never make as much money if your doing it up, least not one on a standard reg plate due to the stigma of possibly being stolen and recovered. Years ago a mate of mine bought a Suzuki X7 from the insurance company/ police sales it was stolen and recovered and all the numbers had been ground off. The feds identified the bike allegedly by x raying the frame. And the insurance company paid out on it. He new all the old numbers and owner etc but it couldn’t be put back on the road with those numbers or the reg plate. So he then stamped his door number and post code on the casings and frame and registered it with DVLA once it was MOTd. Showing my age now but back in the early 80’s a Q plate was rather popular what with all the 250-350lc’s making it on the tracks for production racing and then being put back on the road. With that in mind they are a lot of trikes out there on Q plates that were home built with the back end of a VW Beetle. All legit just the front end will have numbers from a chopped up bike and not match.

@Scootjockey I ran vapor trail digital clocks, but not because of the Zeel, but because I swapped out the forks and wheels for USDs and Aprilia RS 125 wheels respectively.

@theportingmaster I mean, it's 20 years old so I wouldn't be too worried if it's not concourse. Espcially if you want to use the bike daily etc.

@brian-stephens True, the blue is also hard to reproduce, i got side panels reproduced a while back and red was ok but the blue stood out more. If your doing the whole bike you wouldn't notice it though

On a stock bike it just doesent make much sense but on a modded bike it could be cool to have a non standard kickstarter to make the bike that bit more unique

Any one know what size the steering stem bolt is on a 95the dome top nut? Accidently come across some anodised blue ones but only have 04-06 defiantly become addicted to parts hunting lol

@stevie-wonder. I've tried yz 125 std and rfx they work but have slight play which will destroy the spline, I have to wear boots as it my woods n greenlaner and the std one is too short, everyone is saying 85 Levers. But the yz apico says for 85 125 250 everything so not realy sure what to buy yet

@rking7888 not sure tbh as they are different so no idea how close they are for this type of fit You could always make some yourself from some 3mm (or similar) aluminium sheet and attach to the rear brake MC bolts
