@declan spring can be removed, early model you will probably need spring compressor, later model back off pre-load nuts fully should be able to remove securing ring of top of spring bearing plate and gain free movement of spring to remove lower bearing plate and remove spring, don't lose securing ring of top plate! My early shock bottom mount shot, 1st s/h replacement worse, 2nd one excellent. Spring diameter changes over years.!
With spring removed you can check compression damping also

@declan Squirt plenty of WD40 on it, let it soak in for a good hour then apply some heat. Use a nice long torque wrench and give it some welly. If that fails then repeat the first steps, then use an impact driver on the stubborn bugger. 😉

@NINJA there’s no way to put a socket or wrench on it I got the nut off and gave the bolt a few whacks but if I hit It anymore it will ruin the bolt

@declan Get some heat on it, then screw the nut on a few turns then hit it from the nut end, that usually does the trick. If you damage the nut that is easier to replace than the bolt. 😉

I put impact driver on bolt end and just kept spinning it and applying wd40, still not easy and takes a while :, leave for a day or two if necessary. Have spare swingarm end bearings soaking in diesel as we speak, Been there 3 days so far!

So I finally managed to hammer my linkage free I used a soft aluminium washer on the bolt so I didn’t damage it hitting it here’s a few pics of my bushings, thankfully all of my relay bolts are in almost perfect condition and the grease nipples aren’t seized! I cleaned them up real good for the picture
