Download Imgur and use it to post/host the pic. Then copy the link and post it here using the 3rd icon from left in the toolbar…

Yeah the chain snails look smart, you can get aluminium ones on eBay for very little money. Needs the internal diameter reaming out mind you.

Forgeot to ask where's the best place to get the YPVS o rings/seals, I want to carry out a service on it whilst the barrels off.

Barrel I got from PJME waiting for rebuild…

Actually, without a bit more definition it’s hard to tell. The real question is whether there’s a piston to fit your bore properly, or whether it’s going to be needing bore/honing again…
                                    What does the slack measure?…

I've been told the skirt is the spec area...its snug there, towards the top is the bigger gap due to cylinders being oval and because the heat is greater top end, therefore slightly greater space for expansion.
I've just ordered 2 o rings and 1 LH seal from Yambits, I might as well service the power valve whilst the cylinders off. Thanks for your info, its been a good first week on the forum.

Hey no problem, I’ve learnt that you can’t measure piston clearance with a feeler gauge! I never really looked into it before. I traditionally listen for the clatter 🥴

You’ll need a very accurate measurement of the bore top middle and bottom, you’ll need for this is a dial bore gauge, it’ll tell you the OD of the bore and tell you how round it is etc etc,

I send all my barrels and crank to Jim bailey (roadrunners) and he does it for me, I’ve been using him since 2017 for all my dts and mx bikes rm yz etc anything that has a steel liner which all mine was as they was sleeved, he’s very good and last time he did my dtr barrel I did 11k miles before stripping the bike for a restoration it still ran lovely.
