@atraiss Yeah, a dodgey connection though? When you're going over bumps and stuff. Doesn't sound ideal.

@spookdog I don't know what those are for, but there is one on the DTRE that I don't know what they are. I think there was an OEM alarm system that plugs into it though.

@dan28 I have an early 1988 type loom, the only lights that run off the battery are brake and indicators... Anyone had any problems with using halogen bulbs? As opposed to the big round old fashioned bulb? (which the early Dtr uses) I just wondered if they can cause heat damage at all?...

Yes tried a different plug with same problem. I have change all components that are needed, it is off road so no ignition, lights, etc. I think I may investigate the neutral light switch and see what happens it can,t be the side stand switch because it sparks intermittently. Changed stator plate and pick up, fly wheel, cdi unit, coil, battery, regulator. It did run a while ago and I thought I’d cured it, once I made the wiring more secure and ready to test ride, it wouldn’t start. I thought it could of been a fault in the harness and had a friend of mine sort it out and get rid of the unessecary wires. Still no joy🤬. The only thing untouched is the neutral light switch

@markus-w Yes I will do! I’ve got two stators now, I’m almost certain the original unit is definitely past it’s best so I will look to get it repaired and keep as a good spare for me! I will keep the thread up to date with progress as it’s still not resolved yet, fingers crossed the new unit might resolve my issue!!

Not used/seen those before. I have a set of LEDs on my Acerbis Handguards, but they are more for being seen rather than seeing. [image: 6gjUUIX.jpg] [image: Rknb6jj.jpg]

@chris I use this bad boy on my bike, it's super loud and made of plastic, so rust free!!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/R-G-Denali-Soundbomb-Mini-Motorcycle-Horn-113dB-LOUD/321875771508?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Search for sound tests on YT.

@declan Probably because the Stator mounts to the case. However since we won't need to mount the stator there, as the flywheel mounts inverted, you might get away with it, Either way, it's a big faff to do.

@SpookDog B Brown is usually switched live so only works when ignition is on My bike is older than yours but a brown wire goes to kill switch I think If the wire won't solder scrape a stanley blade over it until the copper is shiny rub some flux on twist them together an try again I bought some £7,solder it works much better than the cheap stuff

@SpookDog I have a bike I'm building with an 05 dtx engine I'm trying to do a crossover of parts the bike has spark with it's cdi but won't fire so I would like to try my dtr cdi on it last time I did so I couldn't get a spark since my dtr needs to be stripped down I figure nows a good time to try again

Just find the one that’s giving out 12v when the lights are on. Then 12v only when the brake is on. My headlight/taillight doesn’t work unless the engine is running. The brake light works from the battery... Try doing it ticking over. The black will be the earth. You’ll get it, it’s just a process of elimination
