Hello all,
Back on the forum this time with a 88 dtr 125,sadly the TDR was taken from me and as it was never completed, it wasn't insured (lesson learnt) since this I've worked myself to the bone pulling all the shifts under the sun and managed to get this bike for the handsome price of £500.
The engine in the bike had its numbers ground down which was slightly sketchy however the bike passed its hpi checks.
My plan was to use my TDR 4gw engine with electric start ,TDR wiring loom ,marzocchi USD forks,wr200 swinger and so on.
The loom from the TDR was quite long and took a fair bit of fettling to get it on but with great determination, a plan of attack, and girlfriend on Tea duties I finally got it fitted up rather nicely.
I then added a wr200 swingarm which was initially bought for the tdr.
Could use a nice new slider to be honest but I'm struggling to find a new one this side of the water. The forks where nearly a bolt on affair however a spacer was required for the bottom bearing.
I also got a mx125 front wheel and proceeded to fit a 320mm Aprilia rs125 front brake disc

Does the WR swingarm work with the standard frame and shock?
Only ask as the remote reservoir on the WR shock would get in the way of the battery box.

@tdrgreg2 are those spacers widely available?

@declan no mate the spacer was custom made on a lathe.
if you run a kickstart only DT I believe you can then do away with the battery box and run a capacitor. I also think to my knowledge the shock will go on but the top mounts will need changing and you would have to use the wr linkage, bearing in mind this will Jack up the arse end extremely leaving you to lower it.

For normal riding, it makes a noticeable difference, the biggest difference is just braking.
I found for every day use, my stock DTRE was fine.
Since You said he already has a supermoto, it probably won't make too much difference under normal riding.

@calum oh yes , after Im changed the brake lines for hel braided lines, the standard forks always compressed like crazy ,not cool in the situation when you need stop quickly and whole weight moving over front wheel.

I also found the DTR forks to be like Pogo sticks under the force of sharp breaking. -

You'd need aprilia rx 125 forks for a nobly set up as the brake is positioned higher for the bigger disk on the sm wheel

Basically the supermoto wheels have bigger disks so need the brake position in a Different place to the off-road wheels

I stand corrected theirs a bracket on the mx calliper so with the rx bracket would fit fine
