    Well the best thing to do is to check to ensure that the thermostat is working correctly. You can remove it and place it into a sauce pan and check to see if it correctly opens at the right temperature when left to boil. If your daily commuting the bike, then leaving the thermostat in is advisable. Yamaha know what they're doing. If you start tuning the bike and pushing it beyond its original specifications, then you may want to consider removing it. The thermostat isn't just there to aid heating up of the engine, it also has a role in providing pressure in the cylinder head to avoid pocket stagnation of gases. So it's actually important it's fitted. I just noted that these engines do run warm and removing the thermostat allowed my bike to run at a more consistent temperature when under load.

    I'm not familiar with the market, but a cylinder piston combo with all the work ready to go has got to be £300+. Any more than that then I wouldn't understand why someone wouldn't go for a brand new Athena 125 kit, or a little extra for the 170 kit. The Zeeltronic, new they're around £240, so with the programmer I'd say £160ish is what I'd pay, otherwise I'd just go new. Hope that helps.

    @Stevie-Wonder Thanks bud Greta (for that is her name as she's noisy, irritating, aimed squarely at the youth market and responsible for thousands of them bunking off school all over the world) cost me half as much as my '93 due to the mileage and had a thick layer of grime all over due to years of grinding commuting. I gave her a scrub with Jizer (several times) and this is what was underneath Here are the part #s for the toolbox and lid, bit pricey IMO and you'd have to get the lugs welded on to a non-e start frame.     I suspect he's blended them in. As in it's a custom fabrication job. The ones I linked you to are not "hpires" per se. Rather they are copies of hpires. IIRC - They weren't precisely a direct fit anyhow. And needed some massaging into place. But that's the general gist. [image: ajVkwEd.jpg] That bike doesn't look remotely standard!

    @Calum DT's have rocketed up in value, and not many 16-17 year old's can afford them. A lot of them are bought as mid life crisis's from when they were 17. And most 17 year old's with good money will go out and buy a KTM 125 EXC, much more bike for £1,000 ish more than a DTR.

    You can also buff old plastics how you would with aluminium with wet and dry work your way up from 300-1200 and plastic polish to like new

    @Bananper Yeah that sounds fine. You are meant to bleed the pump from the oil pump itself. There is a nozzle you use to bleed from. so unless something went wrong you should be okay.

    @jamesrandall93 Yeah, I think you're missing the point I'm trying to make. If the fueling isn't setup perfectly, that's where you will encounter problems. So if it's modified and hasn't been rejetted then reliability will suffer. If the bike is in stock trim (ignoring the DEP) and the engine sounds sweet, then you can greenlane on it all day long without engine troubles.
