  • What clutch for a WR200 conversion?
    BluestoesonnoseB Bluestoesonnose

Does anyone know what sorta power a DT125R clutch will take? I'm in the process of dry assembling the DT125R / WR200 conversions bottom end and the clutch i have has seen better days so I need to replace it. Will a DT125R one be ok or do I need to think about a DT200 or WR200 one?

I've owned, the RDs DT125 and KMX200 in their hay days, and I wasn't ever sure that the KIPS was working, whereas the Yamaha system felt like it was doing something. Having a DT125R, has reinforced (rose tinted specs perhaps) the conclusion that the Yam system is better. We never had a Suzook dealer that close to us so I've never ridden a TS200 (250?) or smaller capacity RG(V) though I've ridden both the RD500 and RG500 back to back and the RG was the much better bike.

    Hi,
Does anyone know if the DTR125X wheel hubs are the same as a DT125R and if the brakes etc are interchangeable?

    Cheers

Had a KMX200 way back when, as it was that or a Honda MTX200, and a 2 Stroke Honda just seemed wrong. Anyhoo, it went well and was a very good bike, however, in recent years, parts are hard to find and they don't seem as well supported as the Yamaha, both for new and used parts, therefore, a DT was a no brainer, esp with the likes of Zeeltronic making map changes easy.

Cheers, any tips for the ignition timing compared to the DT125R, ie, retard or advance over std?

Is it possible to send me a copy of the map as a starter for 10?

And ofcourse I had zeeltronic make the first DT125R CDI for me and for all my help I only had to pay for the handheld reprogrammer

This was perfect for my project to set the powervalve limits and curve.

    Also great for ignition timing.

Although they did wire it wrong originally and the powervalve ran backwards πŸ˜†

    But soon sorted it.

    Hi matie,
What map did you use for the DT200WR top end as I'm starting to build a 125R / 200WR hybrid?

    Cheers

@NINJA cheers for the reply. have had 3 and 1/2 dts in the past a 125mx two 125r's and a 50mx the 125mx had the usual 80s bolt on goodies which I think I still have a list of somewhere the dt125 r both had the power valve pinned open one with a standard exhaust the other just had a dep tail pipe, I've had two kmx 200's which I still rate as the best two strokes I've ever had but these are getting very expensive and I want something to play around with and you cannot get a fraction of bits like the dt's

All sounds good, just need to find the heel guards and Acerbis sump plate for mine now!!!

UK bikes that are worth buying seem to be well sorted, buy something that looks rough and it usually will be and cost as much or more than a well looked after or rebuilt example once you've got it reliable. Trouble is DT125Rs are a bit addictive, I'm in the process of upgrading mine to DT200WR spec and now have all the engine parts to start machining the cases, next winter the commute will be a little more interesting....
