New Dt125 owner with mix of engine parts needing help -
Swing arm movement@SpookDog yes the 200wr has an aluminum swingarm but so does my 125r (got a dt200r one) and I bet you are correct that loads of bits are the same.
Oddly though the the 200 is narrower than the 125 with the linkage mount a different distance from the pivot so would not be a direct swap either
-
Swing arm movementI've collected all the parts to do the swingarm on my TDR (basically a DTR) from Yamaha / Wemoto and they were horrendously expensive. Bet its cost something daft like two hundred quid or even more for the 125 bits.
Strange then that All Balls make a kit for my DT200WR that includes everything across a couple of kits for around a hundred quid!
-
Rectifier-Regulator?...Never had a problem with them tbh so not looked into it
Definitely use a known good brand though
-
Rear wheels@rking7888 the only difference I've ever seen with this type of Yamaha hub is that most have 3 bearings and a few only have 2 but they are very common and fit loads of Yam's. For example both my DT200WR and Italian TDR125 have them
-
So Close!...@stevie-wonder its good for the price, you just have to be careful and only use it on the right parts
-
So Close!...@stevie-wonder Harpic is brutal but effective - it will mark the chrome on forks its that acidic. If you use it you must paint straight after as its bare metal which will immediately rust again
-
Crankshafts🥵Is the crank totally knackered? Usually I'd just get a new con-rod kit pressed into mine by a specialist like PJME or SEP etc
-
So Close!...@spookdog I've used the Loctite stuff before but its not very good, apparently Jennolite (sp?) is meant to be much better. Probably better to get blasted then paint immediately afterwards
-
Carb issue / only idling/starting with chokeWorst case scenario a crank seal has gone but I'd go for the carb first and make sure its super clean
-
DT125R 2001 restoration@calum for the cost I'd say its worth it tbh
-
DT125R 2001 restorationHave you tried Fowlers, CMSNL, Ebay France/Germany/Italy etc?
-
DT125R 2001 restorationIf the loom is that bad personally I'd just get a new one if they are still available.
The wires on old looms can become quite brittle and often the wires / connectors etc get full of that green corrosion
Obviously though you need the money for a loom
-
Fitting tyresTake the valve core out if you are going to inflate to silly psi so that you can let it back down again quickly
-
New wiring loom 2001 dt 125 rPut the Yamaha part number into Google / Ebay and try looking at various different countries around Europe (do this in settings).
-
200cc engines@challenger saw that on ebay as I look for dt200wr parts everyday but thought its probably about £600 overpriced
-
Bar risers, Chain slider, levers@rking7888 no idea as its in my new parts pile for the TDR, but what I can say is that they appear to be made out of the same tough plastic as the Yamaha ones are. I went genuine for my 200WR (no other option!) and this compared to the Chinese one doesn't feel any different - the main difference was between £15 and £60
-
Bar risers, Chain slider, leversThe Chinese chain sliders are perfect fit as I've got a one for the DT200R swingarm I'm putting in my TDR125 (same as DT125R).
Cost about £15 delivered if you can wait - the chain guards are great too as bought two - one for my DT200WR and the other for the TDR125. Much cheaper than Yamaha
-
DT125X front fork speed wobble@declan yes I was thinking it could be caused by wind / drag etc
-
'92 Yamaha WR200@challenger great pictures and an even better result for the 200!
