@Calum Thanks bud, I'd like to do more of them! Now I'm no longer interested in riding it opens up the possibility of approaching bike builds dispassionately as engineering projects and I have a few ideas.

RD and DT LC are the same block, but gear ratios differ. RD has a close ratio gearbox and DT has a wide ratio. Close ratio is not ideal if you want to go offroad IMO. Primary drive with clutch and 'middle shaft' length differs in the the LC engines I compared. Definitely get a LC YPVS engine if you go that route, -more usable power than without power valve. I have a DT LC YPVS close to stock, I reshaped the head and installed a Zeeltronic and put in 0,3mm carbon reed petals, the rest is stock. Goes well and has really good midrange torque for a 125. I think the DTR and TZR engines are the same block too, but there is probably the same gear ratio difference, and possibly more I have not tried dropping in a DTR engine in a LC frame (have only one DTR engine and many LC's), but have thought about it. Let us know if you try it!

@Stevie-Wonder Thanks bud Greta (for that is her name as she's noisy, irritating, aimed squarely at the youth market and responsible for thousands of them bunking off school all over the world) cost me half as much as my '93 due to the mileage and had a thick layer of grime all over due to years of grinding commuting. I gave her a scrub with Jizer (several times) and this is what was underneath Here are the part #s for the toolbox and lid, bit pricey IMO and you'd have to get the lugs welded on to a non-e start frame. Be a nice touch if you were getting it powdercoated sometime though https://www.cmsnl.com/products/boxtool_55v2817301/ https://www.cmsnl.com/products/lid_55v2818500/

Always worth looking for new prices first and then looking at second hand if you have to as they can sometimes be "ok" new.

@calum said in y1/y2 barrel: @nottsbiker No, the best barrel is the SP barrel. I've never tried the 4FU barrel but certainly would be interested. Yes I can imagine it is - good luck finding one though!

When using lower octane you can always alter your compression, there is an equation to Graham Bell tuning book for that,if I remember correctly. Speaking for our loving tuned DT's,stock ones won't notice it.

Cant say for certain but I'd imagine a 200R or WR engine would fit as well (if you can find one).

@oldman said in Caution: He definitely had ability deficit syndrome. Really wanted to ask him about abs and traction control, guess that's not going to save you from stupidity. LOLLLLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ - Ability deficit syndrome, now that's a new one for-sure!!!

@zylux Don't feel stupid. That's totally fine. I bought one too before for 235 but I learned from it. Good thing is, my bike is fixed so still happy with it.

@randall Did you fixed this? It's odd but I experienced this on mine too. Engine is bogging down when I give it a full throttle. I checked the ful and spark but they seems normal.

@jessebro1983 Should be able to get a DT125R frame relatively easy and inexpensive. It'll just be import duty you'll need to pay. I'd expect around £50-£70 shipping. I had an RS 125 Frame shipped from Germany to the UK and that cost me £10. But the RS 125 Frame is relatively small.

I can't see it being a cost thing. My DTR's swingarm bearings were fine. And besides the point, it's not a big job to pull the swingarm bolt and regrease.

@oldman said in Klx250: Finally found a KLX 250 for a good price, also came with super moto wheels. Fitted new tyres, c&s, rebuilt brakes, full service, few mods so far, valve clearance checked, manual cam chain tensioner to fit and counter shaft (sprocket) oil seal to change then it's done (almost) Still riding the red dt and the dtmx, though they will be put away for winter. [image: 1601154250211-imag0024_copy_800x599_copy_320x240.jpg] Stunning bikes. I am by no means a Kawasaki guy but credit where it’s due they where years ahead of Yamaha and the industry with the KLX’s. I’ve seen a couple 95-99 models come up sale recently and they’ve green with envy (pun intended). Once again no Kawasaki guy but the mid 90’s models just look too cool and extremely modern. Oddly enough they seem to come up fairly cheap compared to the likes of XR’s and WR’s too, which seems strange considering it offers more then a lot of its adversaries? Maybe garish green isn’t for everyone... Let me know your thoughts on it and how you get on with it it’s been on my list of bikes to potentially buy when I do my A2 licence. Only thing that puts me off is it only being a 250 and roughly 30hp and feel I’d want more to play with

@Calum said in How quick should a dt be?: @tdrgreg2 Super teen was a racing series for teenagers to enter. Due to their age and experience, the series was designed to race 125 two strokes. Teens would predominately race Aprilia RS125's, Honda RS125's and the Occassional Yamaha TZR 125 RR [image: ZGUyNDQwMzM0OGFjZjU2NzdiMDIzYjE1Nzc5Y2VkOGLCm-r7nM4fX027QjsglY3oaHR0cDovL21lZGlhLmFkc2ltZy5jb20vY2Q5ZTg3NjJmYjA0OGNiYWQ3OTJlODI4ZDNkZWQxOTc4MjNlYmY1MmNhMTQyNTZkNmJjMmE2ZGZmNmZkOGUzYy5qcGd8fHx8fHw3MDB4NTI1fGh0dHA6Ly93d3cuYWR2ZXJ0cy5pZS9zdGF0aWMvaS93YXRlcm1hcmsucG5nfHx8.jpg] The engine in that bike is a direct fit into the Yamaha DT125R. I fitted that into my DT. may i ask what u did with the rest of this 4dl please im fond of these and would buy whats left if u have any tyvm

I suspect he's blended them in. As in it's a custom fabrication job. The ones I linked you to are not "hpires" per se. Rather they are copies of hpires. IIRC - They weren't precisely a direct fit anyhow. And needed some massaging into place. But that's the general gist. [image: ajVkwEd.jpg] That bike doesn't look remotely standard!
