The washer in question (finger pointed at) with spring washer under.
You can see that moving the washer up let’s you access the thinner stainless steel inner Stantion which the collar will pass over 😜 ...

@biker_123 I recently had this problem, the way I got around it was using an impact gun on the bolt to jolt it then it all came apart really easy after

Just put on your set of USDs, I don't know why you're overthinking it.

If you have the storage, I'd recommend keeping your old forks for the future.

I do, too much time, to many potential options and an urge to get things done quick 😂
I also felt a weird urge to just not mess with the bike for once and just leave it relatively standard after what we said.

As with my build/bike anything removed goes in the loft and left alone.
Even if that weren’t the case I plan on keeping it anyways.

I actually read on here that someone made a custom axle for the DTR hub so they could use their DTR front wheel in their USD’s and thanks to the disk size being the same and the WR200’s and then sharing bolt patterns you just do the ole switcharoo.

Perfect for me because I can have a trail/road Kenda K270 wheelset that’s 18/21 and my 21/19 set for knobblies

In other news Facebook didn’t bid a successful sale and only led to me explaining to people that you can’t swap stems and that they don’t bolt on some I’m just cracking on with it and keeping them anyway.

time to continue this old donkey...

First and foremost, I hope everyone’s well and what’s everyone been up to with their projects?

So since tearing down my entire front end this is what’s happened
    •Rebuilt the 02 YZ forks
•Noticed the gigantic difference in stems and tapering on the upper stanchion
    •Not a lot else

Unfortunately being at home at university without an income and also coming to the realisation this is going to need quite a bit of work halted things.

During a storm she also took a bad hit, being knocked clean sideways off, knocking bearings out and taking everything else with it. 😞
I was very lucky as there was no panel damage and no glass or anything smashed

According to my phones camera roll, she’s not been started or rode in over 2 months. Devastated. On the bright side keeping them miles down and rebuilds away 😂

Anyway... I’ve spoke to a lot of different people about the way they did their USD fork conversion, I even found the guy who’s bike I posted and got chatting to him and the general consensus is some people having been using Dremels and buying replacement modern taper bearings. @Calum if you’re reading, don’t worry mate I’m taking your advice on this one. Bearing cup method all day. I think of about 8-10 people I’ve spoke to online only one person has used that method. Everyone else had made their own kind of diy jobby. Worst of all, 95% of the time they’re fucking weirdos and act all secretive about it. Not a fan tbh. Sounds very sketchy

I don’t think a single one of the people I spoke to who’s done a USD fork swap has actually done so with any intent of using those forks like they where designed for. £500 on a WR200 front end just to supermoto it and look cool? 🤡🤡🤡

@Nottsbiker said in WR swing arm:

@Calum there is a guy on the WR200 forum in the States thats putting a WR200 motor into a YZ125 rolling chassis 😉

Easier to sell DTR and buy WR or DT200WR - the 125 will probably fetch the same or better money than the 200 which ironically is by far the better bike

Not to mention the £1000’s fo pounds you’d save buying parts from that bike for your 125.

I’m doing my bike license soon and I can’t act like I haven’t considered going to France and buying a WR200, just like you said itd make a lot more sense

Make sure you get the Carte Gris (v5 equivalent) and pay import tax for the NOVA declaration

Download the Leboncoin app on your mobile as well - you may need a vpn to allow the download

@Nottsbiker id like a kdx 200 or 220 i think they're a perfect balance between comfort and peformance

Yes thats why I bought my DT200WR 😉

Had one years ago regretted selling it ever since so had to get another one.

@SpookDog said in Swing arm & linkage seals:

The Wemoto kit only covers the swingarm to frame bearings and seals

You need to order the rest from Fowlers or CMSNL

There is occaisionally a company on Ebay selling the pivot kit for the linkage at around £110 which is slightly cheaper than genuine but cant vouch for the quality

I've gone with Wemoto and Fowlers for my TDR (same as DTR) and all in I think its approx £250 for all the bearings, bushes and seals etc. I also treated the bike to a YSS shock which was another £200 but way better than the stock unit

    Not a cheap job

Thanks mate but does that go for my oil as well? Wasn’t sure if it has to be a certain type.. 500ml seemed to much but I take it that’s the right amount, And are those instructions correct for a super moto?

The shorter the dog bones the taller the bike. The longer the dog bones the shorter it'll be. My DTR has 10mm shorter. But I am quite tall so it fits me perfectly.

I can't sell these unfortunately, but they really are easy to fabricate.

But there are plenty on eBay

As mentioned they are a sealed unit

I've gone down the YSS route for my TDR125 (same as DT125R) and it cost me approx £200 all in. Seems good quality and is adjustable too.
