DT125R FORUM

Hi all I have just purchased a dt125r sm 2006 looking at doing a full rebuild so any advice would be much appreciated starting with powder coating and were to get new fairing and if possible any recommendations on who can do an engine rebuild .

As @CYBER-NINJA said, they are compatible to an extent, you do need the seat tank. From a collectors point of view, the bike would be worth more as an R. If you like the rear tail light then maybe I suggest using something like the Acerbis tail light. That would tidy the rear end up nicely. You could mount it to a HPires rear fender. And you need to meassure the piston and cylinder for wear, you cant see if fx the cylinder is out of round. Also meassure ring-gap.

@HOBO4LIFE I know, but I'm saying that if you get an A2 license when you're 19 you are allowed to get the full A license once you're 21 and you don't have to wait till you are 24.

Makes me sick!!!!!!!! My lock up has 3 alarms, I also use alarm disk locks front and rear and have the bike chained and padlocked to a anchor cemented into the foundations of the garage. On top of that I have a sneaky rape alarm boobie trapping the garage door lol. I once had a dt125x back in 07, I wernt so cautious back then and lost out to a thief!!. Alright, that's a no to the higher pitch in that case. Doesn't look like I'm going to get any of this stuff before the weekend now. I have a whole heap of new stuff that I'm dying to get on the bike, so the drivetrain stuff is going to have to wait I think. If I can get the bike running this weekend I'll place an order for one of those anodised renthal rear sprockets, a 428 chain and a standard front sprocket. I'll probably come back and ask about chains then. Here's hoping I can get a spark this weekend.

Yeah I can't stand that bolt and nut when you have the stock exhaust system! Don't think that snapped part is going to effect anything, I think it is literally just used as a mark to line up the valve properly.

@Uber_Beluga So if you have four wires - one will be an ign. Switched live to the starter switch. One will be the return wire to the starter solenoid. Then the other two will be a feed up from the CDI and a return that either goes back to the CDI to make a circuit or maybe goes to earth as I mentioned before. Just buzz the wires out with your meter to check what they do, but if you can get a good make/break across the switch then that's not you problem.

@ConnorDTR yeah that is the way to go. Think I paid 60 for my tzr rr belgarda vhsa carb. But have seen them go for silly money.
