You can put it in from the side.
Just lever out a bush, or put a screwdriver in one side and tap out the other...
You shouldn’t t need to split the cases. Just lift the engine up in the frame till you have access...

Yes found that out to my dismay once - think they are 1mm narrower than the nearest commonly available bearing.

Why wont these casings go back together.....

For reference I’m running about 1mm squish on my engine with programmable ignition, I was melting the tip of the standard range spark plug after a top gear hoon but I think I was a fair bit further advanced than standard on the top end, I’d maybe stick to 1.2-1.3mm, I’m sure that’s the standard figure but my Frankenstein engine with different barrel and head measured something crazy like 1.8mm as it was! So it’s worth checking..
also to note for the future, you don’t want to go any less than about 0.8mm squish on these engines as the Conrod stretch at high rpm will smack the head.

You bolt it to the flywheel, then insert the centre bolt and tighten it. You need to of removed the centre nut first though...

Well i have used giannelli it doesnt have any e markings so i am not sure about he model.

Power on this run was 16.98 bhp.
On other runs it was 17.58. Without any mods.

Just done the one on my 3SH - when you put the new one in make sure that you cover the gear lever shaft with tape so it does not damage the seal when you push it through. Budget for a new clutch cover gasket and oil as well.

BTW do not lose the clutch ball bearing!

@jonne123 my current 2000 dtr/ blue has red rear shock spring but my old 88 dtr black/red had a pink spring. Don't know if it's a colour code that actually means anything.

It doesn’t look like any kind of method you could use for precision tuning though…
