The suspension effect you get from forks comes from the air left inside the fork, after all you cannot compress a liquid. If you change to thicker oil and try filling it up a bit more you will effectively stiffen the forks. Just make sure you still have air in them, don't fill it right up cause then you won't have any suspension.

Would not hurt to put fresh oil in and seals, make sure you clean all the gunk out of the fork legs, progressive fork springs would be significant improvement. If you are using new springs would keep same oil weight to start off, otherwise could be over the top. Ask spring suppliers for reccomended weight come to that

@ryanjimccfc The shocks for all 3 bikes are 410mm in length and the YSS item is listed as being compatible for all 3 bikes, which means it should be a straight swap for the OEM unit. The YSS unit's also offer adjustable pre-load and compression too, just the same as the DT200/Lanza's units just without the external reservoir, so you are getting pretty much the same spec as a used 200 unit all in one package. Plus I think the YSS has a stiffer spring over the original shock? So all_in_all it's a simpler upgrade with less hassle of fitting and mounting the res. If you have the cash then I would go for a new and improved shock over an old used unit everytime. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YSS-REAR-SHOCK-YAMAHA-DT-R-200-1989-2006-SHOCK-ABSORBER-331/183127097768?epid=24009232077&hash=item2aa339c1a8:g:ai4AAOSwRH5XKxXH https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YSS-SHOCK-ABSORBER-ADJUSTABLE-REAR-MONO-For-Yamaha-DT-125-R/142012163491?epid=517329238&hash=item211095a5a3:g:2mcAAOSwnFZXUAUJ

In terms of stiffness I can't say I felt much difference, it feels slightly higher with the R damper.

Starts to wobble at 70mph and greater when when I suddenly let off the throttle with the clutch engaged? As long as throttle is on, there is no wobble at all past 70mph, although the faster I go before I let off the more violent it gets. All bearings are fine as are swinging arm bearings, bushes etc. Tyres are bridgestone nobblies standard size.

Burnt the rubber. I have done loads of these in the past, not on the shock of a dt, but when I polybushed my car I had ton take out loads of them and they are never easy.

@vtrn_raptor See this thread and speak to @tdrgreg2 He used a set of Aprilia MX 125 USD's which were almost a direct bolt on, just one spacer required. https://dt125r.co.uk/topic/1020/dtdr-build

I considered the hyperpro progressive springs for mine, but they were listed for the R not the X that I've got. Glad I didn't buy them because mine already had progressive springs in! I went with 15w oil and it's much better now

Might as well get some USD forks if you are going to be getting a new set to fit the bike, as most forks will need modifications done for correct fitting.
